Stampin' Up! Events

April 27, 2008

Road Trip.. I've been in L.A.

I drove down to the Los Angeles area on Friday to participate in a Stampin' Up! Downline meeting for my dear friend Michelle yesterday. It was loads of fun!!  It was fabulous to meet some new friends, put faces to "virtual friends" and reconnect with old friends!!

When I arrived at my hotel, I giggled to see "towel art" in the bathroom... I thought that only happened on cruises!!  LOL

It's just a hand towel with the edge folded back like a collar and the washcloth folded for the tie.. what a hoot to do this for your husband or Dad on Father's Day!  LOL

Anyway.. I had a few hours so I made swaps for the meeting:

I took a few photos at the meeting as we were setting up... then found out I brought the camera battery that was NOT charged... ugh.. so there ended my picture taking for the day.  waaaah. (or DUH!)

The displays I brought with me:

Bermuda Cruise - Make & Takes

EDIT 4/8/08: many of you have asked if the new set we got on the cruise was die cut.. YES IT WAS!!  We were speculating if that meant all the sets in the new (Aug. 11, 2008) catalog would be die cut... they did not tell us.. but it would appear that at least THIS new set will be!  yahoo!

One of the highlights on the Stampin' Up! Cruise each year is our Make & Take session. Stampin' Up! gives us a new set and some accessories to make our projects.  This year we got a new set called  "Owl Together Now", seen here:

We were also given the markers and 2 pads in the CUTE tote!!

Here are the projects we worked on during our "at sea day" make & take session.

EDIT: several of you have asked for the pattern for the card below... it couldn't be easier.. it's our mini 3x3 envelope with the flap tucked inside!!  yahooo!  too cute, huh?  :)

Afternoon Tea

Env_card_embellisment_2 I LOVE the new Afternoon Tea DSP from Stampin' Up!

The colors and patterns are GORGEOUS! :)

(BELOW) This is a card we made with that paper at the Stampin' Up! Oakland Regional Seminar:

Env_card_mt

And then I made 2 alternate designs, both using the same Afternoon Tea DSP and the Live Your Dreams stamp set!  The brown part above and the white part below is an envelope, sealed shut, then cut an inch off one end, and insert your card that way.  Fun design!

Here is a close up of my embellishment, using the scallop punch, white "A Perfect Day" Rub-ons, and a metal edge tag.

Hope you enjoyed those!

Info from my Stampin' Up! Regional presentation

NOTE - Sunday AM:  I have added a couple photos to this post since yesterday.. please see below.

My quick 5 minute "Workshop Wow" presentation today at the Stampin' Up! Regional Seminar included info on how to cut your 12x12 cardstock to make at least 36 cards from a Simply Scrappin' Kit!

Tie_the_knot_copy

Using the 9 pieces of textured cardstock, and cutting them according the the figure above will yield 36 4x4 cards, and you still have 6 sheets of patterned cardstock in the kit to use!  Use the little 4x4 piece to punch out embellishments for your cards.

I added these supplies to embellish the cards:

Dsc09129_copy

And came up with several different card designs.. here are some of them.. enjoy!

another SU! Regional Swap

This was the first swap I worked on for the upcoming Regional Seminar.  It turned out to be pretty labor-intensive and has really aggravated my pinched nerve again, so I had to stop after about 25 of these and move on to the Summer Picnic cards (here).

I started with a 4x4 square of Pomegranate cardstock, and put a smaller folded card on top of it, layered with Berry Bliss Designer paper from Stampin' Up!  It's embellished with Build-a-Brad, the new Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware, Pink Taffeta ribbon and stamp from "A True Friend" and Boho Backgrounds.

Thanks for looking!

Stampin' Up! Regional Seminar... here we come!

I was getting out a nametag lanyard for the upcoming Regional Seminar this weekend, and came across the zip-lock baggie with all my past SU! nametags.... I counted 33 nametags for various SU! events I've attended!!  These include Convention, Regionals, Managers meetings and Cruises!!  WOW!!!  I just thought this was kind of a neat picture to share!  The upper 2 (purple and brown) were the first 2 conventions I went to in 1996 and 1997.
