SNOW FRIENDS CARD SERIES - DAY 1

Welcome to day 1 of a 3 part series featuring these adorable Snow Place / Snow Friends stamps and dies from the Stampin' UP! 2015 Holiday  catalog!

I'm crazy for penguins... did you know?  I'll link to some of my penguin posts and my Penguin Pinterest board at the bottom of this post :)   We have a collection of stuffed penguins that come out to play at our house each Christmas.. do you have a favorite collection you bring out during the holidays?

For this sweet square card I used several fun techniques, and custom colored my own "Color me Irresistible" paper to get some fun red and white stripes!

First, I used my Real Red and Island Indigo Stampin' Write Markers to color just the top portion of this stamp from the Six Sayings Hostess set, then stamped it on Whisper White cardstock and cut it with my Stampin' Trimmer:

Red Pom Pom Trim... ok.. how cute is this!  I saw this idea on Pinterest and thought it was so cute for the ear muffs!  eek!! A penguin with cold ears.. now that's just silly!

The Color Me Irresistible paper comes both "white on white" (for you to custom color, or use as white decorative paper) and it also comes with 6 sheets of already colored paper.  Since I wanted Real Red, I made my own. After trying both my brayer and a sponge dauber, I decided I liked the even-ness of the brayer.  What do you think? Watch the Video: See more info about the paper here.

Tri-Fold Snowflake Card

Do you remember the cute Christmas Tree "Home for Christmas" Tri-fold cards I shared with you a couple weeks ago?  Well, this Snowflake card is the one that inspired those cards.  I made this card at my friend Susan's house in September. It features the BEAUTIFUL Flurry of Wishes stamp set and matching snowflake punch! (links available at the bottom of this post).

I just love the gorgeous soft colors in this card: Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate.  Each punched snowflake has a rhinestone in the center.. the larger ones are new from the Holiday catalog and are called Iced Rhinestones, and the smaller ones are the regular rhinestones from the large Stampin' Up! annual catalog.

One thing that makes this card SO EASY is that 3 of the snowflakes in the stamp set just punch right out with Stampin' Up! punches.. um.. hello.. YES!!!  Love that!

The white cardstock background is embossed with the Softly Falling embossing folder.. isn't that just the perfect touch for this card!?  I think so!!

Double Gate Fold Fall Cards

Do you have left over double sided Designer Paper?  If so, this is a great project to use some up!

In September, Vinnie showed me this idea at our Luv 2 Stamp Group stamping day, and I thought I would remember how to make it.. but I had to look at the instructions.. I  found the instructions HERE on Splitcoast.

You can see both patterns of paper on these delightful folded cards! You can add the triangles in 3 different ways to the bottom of the side panels.. so much fun to play with these and discover different results!

I decorated the card fronts with a doily, a metallic foily doily and some stamping and printed paper.. lots of ways to add something pretty to the front!  I also put a piece of Whisper White cardstock inside because it would be too hard to write on the patterned paper... well, not hard to write on it, but hard to read it! :)

 Try it with ANY double sided paper you have .. I just wanted to use up some fall paper before Thanksgiving!

3 Ways to use the Dove of Peace Stamp

Have you seen this beautiful Dove of Peace stamp in the Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog? It's at the bottom of pg 20.  Don't miss it... this catalog will end before you know it!

I had fun creating 3 totally different hand stamped cards with this Dove of Peace stamp!   They each have a very different feel to them!

Dove of Peace card #1:

Do you Zentangle? That's what this stamp reminds me of!!! It makes me think of my friends Lydia and Melanie.  I had so much fun coloring it with my Stampin' Write markers.. it takes me back to about Jr. High School when I used to love to color in outline art images!  That trend is totally back!

I stamped the dove on Very Vanilla cardstock with my Archival black ink pad and colored it with Tangerine Tango, Calypso Coral, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizzazz Stampin' Write markers. (yes, the very same colors as my room when I was a teenager) :)

I cut out the dove and used Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere it to a die cut banner.  The banner is on top of a piece of Very Vanilla that I embossed with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.  It's layered onto Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight cardstock, then onto a Pear Pizzazz folded card.

Dove of Peace card #2:

I kept this one pretty simple.. just stamping the dove with the Archival Basic Black pad onto Thick Whisper White cardstock, and punching the corners with the Curvy Corner Trio Punch.

It's popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals onto the script design from the Neutrals Collection paper stack, then onto Basic Gray cardstock and a folded Basic Black card.

I die cut the word Peace using my Big Shot and the Christmas Greetings thinlit dies (pg 34 Holiday catalog) using Basic Black Cardstock, and I also die cut a layer using Fun Foam, glued them together with the Fine Tip Glue Pen, then adhered it to the card with the fine tip glue pen.  I love the way it pops up on the card!!  (click here to watch my Fine Tip Glue Pen Tips video)

Dove of Peace card #3:

Simple. Black and Gold.

I stamped the dove using my StazOn black ink pad onto the Gold Foil paper, layered that onto some of the gold and black foil striped paper in the Winter Wonderland Specialty paper package (pg 23 Holiday Catalog), added some gold satin ribbon and a simple tag.  The tag is stamped with the Peace be with you greeting from the Reason for the Season set and die cut with a tag from the Tags & Labels framelit collection.

You may have guessed that I cut my dove and greeting apart.. I found it easier to use that way.

Softly Falling Embossing Folder "Snow"

After stamping my card with the trees from the Stampin' UP! Wonderland set, I put it into the Softly Falling Embossing folder (see it here) and ran it through the Big Shot to give it some snowy texture!

The snowy hill was created by cutting a curvy line out of a piece of Winter Wonderland paper that has some small gold speckles on it.  EASY way to create a snowy hill!

I created the moon by punching out a 1-1/4" dia. circle from white cardstock and adhering it to the card before embossing it with the Softly Falling embossing folder.

I think this card would be great for Birthday, Thank You, Thinking of You, Get Well or a holiday card in December! What do you think?

Glimmery Gold Acorns

 You might remember the Christmas Gift Card pocket cards I shared with you in September... (see them here)... I thought it would be fun to create a fall version and use them for customer thank you cards, so this is what I came up with.. I added a couple pretty touches of gold and glimmer and the Acorn Builder Punch to dress them up for fall!

I love the Stampin' Up! Kraft Bags - don't you think they are the perfect touch for fall!? Especially when paired up with some gold accents?

I added a 2" x 10-1/2" strip of paper from the Into the Woods pack (pg 43 Holiday catalog), a gold metallic foil doily, a glitzy acorn, and a decorated card insert!

I found it easiest to stamp several of these greetings on a strip of Thick Whisper White paper then punch them all out at once with the 2" circle punch.   I stamped them with images from the very fun "A Little Something" stamp set, found on pg 41 in the Holiday Catalog.

After stamping and punching, simply layer your circle onto a Metallic Foil Doily.. such a pretty gold accent touch for the fall!

As you can see below, I used 3 different paper patterns from the "Into the Woods" paper package.  There are 12 patterns in the pack to select from!

OH, and did you notice how well the new Curvy Corner Trio punch coordinates with the Metallic Foil Doilies!?

The pretty THANKS stamp is from the October Paper Pumpkin kit... are you a subscriber?

Snowy Hill Holiday Card with Glimmer Paper

I was so excited to see how much my stampers enjoyed this card last weekend!  We made this card at my Luv 2 Stamp Group event and also at Rita's Stampin' UP! workshop.  I just love the sparkle of the glimmer paper on this holiday card featuring the Sleigh Ride Edgelit Big Shot Dies!

To add to the glitz on this card, we also used Metallic Foil Doilies and a Metal Rimmed pearl.  So pretty, so serene, and very elegant!

These are the 2 embellishments I mentioned above that really make this card pop!

The pearls are self-adhesive, so really easy to apply!  We punched a small star out of the Glimmer Paper scraps, and used a glue dot to apply it to the punched circle.

The Sleigh Ride Edgelits (shown at the bottom of this post) have 3 different designs in the package.  I cut all 3 out of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper with the Big Shot and the participants at my events could use any of the designs on their card.  Isn't this pretty when you sponge green onto the trees?  Just use a post it note to mask off the hill portion!

It's really fun to find different holiday greetings to layer over the doilies.  Did you know you can flip the doilies over and they are all white!?  So you have gold, silver and white in every package of 24!!

Stamp a sheet of greetings, and punch them out with the 1-1/4" or the 1-3/8" circle punch or the 1-1/4" scallop circle punch, then layer onto the Metallic Doilies.

HOW TO:  Create these leaves with the sponging technique I shared with you HERE in this blog post.  Then splatter the leaves with gold reinker, or a bit of glue and gold glitter.

Use the "negative space".. how clever is this.. stamp the Happy Scenes fall image on your white cardstock, color it, then "frame it" with a Leaflet Framelit die cut!  Stamp the background with the Hardwood stamp for a wonderful outdoorsy, fall look!

Easy Poinsettia Holiday Card

Do you want to look like you are an expert watercolor artist!? I have a little secret for you! AND I have a VIDEO TUTORIAL for this card!! See below....

I used my Stampin' UP! Paper snips to cut out the beautiful Season of Cheer paper pretty watercolored poinsettia!!  HOW EASY is THAT!?  :) whohooo!!

We are making this Holiday Card at 2 events this weekend.. my Luv 2 Stamp Group stamping day gathering on Saturday, and at a Stampin' Up! workshop for Rita and friends on Sunday!

Other pretty little touches on my card:

  • Iced Rhinestone in the flower center
  • Embossed frame with the Boughs & Berries folder
  • Embossed banner flag with the Softly Falling folder
  • Extra pretty touch inside with Curvy Corner Trio punched white cardstock!

Do You Believe in Snowman Santa?

I think Santa could be a snowman... well, at least he could be in my little world...

It is really seriously easy to cut out this Snowman Santa really quickly with the Snow Friends framelit dies and your Big Shot! Of course the Magnetic Platform makes this even easier!

You may have seen this pretty tree background on my blog before.. I posted THIS CARD with the same background.. It's created with the Woodland Embossing folder.

I cut the snowy hill out of a small piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper.. SO pretty!

Have you tried this great Woodlands Embossing Folder background technique yet? 

  1. Lightly brayer some Lost Lagoon ink directly onto the Woodland Embossing folder (the side with the raised background and "depressed" tree trunks)
  2. OPTIONAL: Stamp some trees onto the folder with the Wonderland set and Garden Green ink - see this card
  3. Punch out a circle using a post-it note, and put it onto your white card panel
  4. Put the white card into the embossing folder, run through the Big Shot
  5. Take the post-it note circle off the white card and VOILA! A winter tree scene with a moon!
