Gift Cards... do you give Gift Cards? We probably all do, right? Family, Friends, Mailman, UPS guy, co-workers, teachers, grandkids, etc.
Well, here is a creative way to present an otherwise boring gift card!
All I did was to fold a bag in half, in this case I used the Glassine Gift Bags, but you can use the Kraft Gift bags, too, as shown in the video below. Purchase either of these bag options in my online store and find on page 176 in the 2016 annual Stampin' Up! catalog. See all of the supplies used for these projects listed at the bottom of this blog post.
Watch my video below from last year.. different supplies, same concept:
Click here to watch the video on YouTube if you are reading this in a email!
Click here to see more ideas using this design idea.
Or, maybe you just want to tuck in other goodies like candy, family photos, a note, theater tickets, etc., .. fill the 2 pockets with whatever you'd like!
Each of these gift card holders was embellished with the "This Christmas" designer paper and die cut images from the Merry Tags framelit dies.
As you'll see in the video, simply wrap a 10" to 12" piece of designer paper around the folded bag and decorate.. could not be any simpler!! :)
The bag itself creates 2 pockets for you to fill!

Wondering exactly what's retiring? what's on Clearance? what's in excess inventory priced at a great discount for you?
Wow.. do you need a great idea for a handmade wedding card? This is it! The Botanical Builder flower framelits from Stampin' UP! die cut all in Whisper White cardstock and layered onto a Basic Black Card!
My friend Joy saw this flower card idea on Pinterest and taught me how to make this!!
She die cut Whisper White cardstock using the Lots of Labels framelits, and embossed it with the Elegant Dots embossing folder. After adding that to the folded Basic Black card, we added lots of die cut flowers. The flowers and leaves are all die cut with the Big Shot using the Botanical Builder framelit set, shown below and available HERE online.
Did you notice that we stamped some of the leaves with Sahara Sand ink with the coordinating Botanical Blooms stamp set? That added just the perfect amount of contrast!! It's a photopolymer set, so seeing through it and stamping the leaves is really easy!
I love all the layering.. some flowers are adhered with Snail adhesive, some with Glue Dots and some with Stampin' Dimensionals.. that's a great way to get lots of depth!
For a POP of glimmer, we punched 1/8" circles of Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper for the flower centers.. so pretty! You could also use Wink of Stella.
You could try this on a Gold card, Cherry Cobbler Card, Pink Card.. gosh.. most any color! It would be stunning no matter what!
Ours is a top folding 4-1/4" x 11" piece of cardstock so that we could tie the ribbon around the card easily.

Many of you have probably seen this #imbringingbirthdaysback hashtag on Facebook over the past several months, and today we are celebrating Shannon's birthday, the creator of this movement to Bring Birthdays Back!! Shannon felt that wishing people happy birthday on facebook was not allowing us the opportunity to do what we do best... create and send cards!
So, Shannon, thank you for encouraging all of us to Bring Birthdays back by sending a special birthday card in the mail, and here's to your special day and to a year filled with many blessings!
I mailed this stamped card to Shannon last week and I hope she received it in time to help celebrate her special day!
I used the beautiful hostess stamp set called "Best Thoughts". You'll find it on pg 180 of the current annual catalog. Did you know you can purchase this set with $10 of your hostess dollars? And that you earn hostess dollars to spend on anything you want when your Stampin' UP! order is $150 or more!? Well, now you know :)
Shannon stamps her #imbringingbirthdaysback stamp on the envelope of all the birthday cards she mails out to hundreds of people! So, I did the same :)
I think I may have overdone it on her card.. at the last minute I stamped the swirly border around the piece of whisper white cardstock... but I hope she still likes it! The swirly border is from the fabulous Tin of Cards stamp set (see it here).
This is the beautiful Shannon West in a recent photo, doing what else but addressing more birthday cards!
And below is Sara Douglass, CEO of Stampin' UP! showing off the amazing #imbringingbirthdaysback stamp - now available to everyone!! Click to order yours!
As you have probably guessed, this Botanical Gardens Suite is truly one of my all time most favorite suite of Stampin' UP! products!! I love the design, the colors, the graphic bold feel and all the detail!!
Several months ago I asked one of my Luv 2 Stamp group members for some help catching up with Thank You cards for my customers. I sent products and ideas/instructions, and was so grateful to Jason L. for helping me with these cards! I love all the designs and perfect execution of the cards!! Thank you J!
If you would like to see an overview of this Botanical Gardens Suite, Please watch the video I made with Sara Douglass HERE! You'll also get to see the instructions for another fabulous project idea with these Botanical Garden suite products!
I just love how all of the pretty layers of all the flowers and leaves create such a gorgeous lush feeling on each card!
For information on the greeting stamp sets used, the ink and cardstock colors, and other products, please see the product photos at the bottom of this post.
One of my favorite pieces in this suite is the innovative leaf framelit border.. how creative to cut off the corner of the Crumb Cake Note Card at a diagonal with this border die!
The Botanical stamp set and dies will carry over into the new 2016-2017 catalog, but the paper will not.. so you will need to order that soon if you want it! The 15% savings on the bundle will not be available either, in the new catalog - so plan your purchase accordingly if you want to save $$.
This Botanical Gardens Suite of products is so fantastic, and I'm just praying that the designer paper doesn't sell out before you get a chance to read this blog post!! You can see the products here:
Today I'm excited to share details for the beautiful squares my Luv 2 Stamp Group made for our 3x3 Occasions Catalog Floral Swap several weeks ago!
I hope you remember this pretty frame I shared from this post, and I wanted to be sure to share all of the details with you for each of the beautiful squares from the Luv 2 Stamp group for that swap!!
The frame is a 12x12 white wood frame from a craft store, and the 12x12 paper in the background is from the Brights Color Collections paper stack (Daffodil Delight), and a 10"x10" square of Mint Macaron paper from the 2015-2017 In Color Paper Stack. Each square is 3"x3" and could also be used on a card, on a box, a gift bag, in Project Life or any other crafting or home decor project you'd like to make.
I took the glass out of the frame because of the 3-d embellishments. TIP: store your glass behind your project inside the frame so that it doesn't get lost or broken.
I'm super excited to share a sneak peek of a new 2016-2017 Stampin' Up! bundle with you, but if you prefer to wait and see it in your new catalog, don't scroll down :)
I am delighted to be a part of an International Blog Hop today with fellow demonstrators from all over the world!!! (see the list at the bottom of this blog post, and please visit them all!) You are visiting PattyStamps.com here in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, USA!
When I was at the Stampin' Up! home office last December celebrating my million dollar sales achievement, I got to see lots of new catalog products {squeal!!!!}, and after Spencer showed them to me, he gave me the Foxy Friends Stamp set and matching punch!!!! Eeek!!! You probably could have heard me squeal all the way back here in California!!! :)
I have been creating lots of fun projects with this bundle, and today I'm sharing my kitty cat card with you!
I love that this bundle is so versatile and that you can create so many different little critters with it!
This idea sheet was on display at the Stampin' Up! OnStage event last month, showing several different cuties you can create with this Foxy Friends stamp set and Fox Builder punch!
Depending on which greeting and paper you use, this card could be used for anything from a get well to a birthday, to a thank you, to a baby card! I truly love the font used in the Tin of Cards stamp set; that is the one I used for these cards, stamped in Archival Black ink.
I used the Shine On Specialty DSP in the background, cut to 3-1/4" x 4-3/4" on a Crumb Cake Note Card.
The kitty is stamped in Crumb Cake ink on Thick Whisper White cardstock and then punched out with the 2-1/2" circle punch.
I stamped about 60 of these Happy Hello Foxy Friend cards to swap at the OnStage event, you can see that post here.
If you are one of my customers, I am super excited to share this new catalog with you!! I've been a demonstrator for 20 years and 11 months, and was a customer for about 3 years before that.. so I have seen about 25 years of new catalogs, and I can honestly tell you THIS CATALOG ROCKS MY WORLD!! I hope you love it too!! See this post for more info on getting your new catalog!
Thank you so much for visiting me today, and enjoy all of my fellow demonstrators Sneak Peek posts.. you can visit them by clicking on any of the links below! Kylie is up next!! :) You'll love her projects!
I had the best time making these pretty little gift bags with the Stampin' UP! Fluttering Embossing Folder, and I thought I would share this quick and easy technique with you! I have a VIDEO tutorial for you today, be sure to scroll down to see it! I will show you how I made these and how I stamped on the Fluttering embossing folder image!
These gift treat bags were mailed to the top sellers in my Luv 2 Stamp group last month! I hope they liked them!
Be sure to watch the video to see how easy it is to stamp on the embossed image to achieve this pretty result, and to see how I die cut the butterflies out of the Birthday Bouquet paper!
Watch the Video Below, or, click HERE to see it on YouTube.
As noted in the video, these are the supplies I used:
Sketched Polkadot Bags #138316
Tea Lace Paper Doilies #129399
Fluttering Embossing Folder #139304
Birthday Bouquet paper #140557
Butterflies Thinlits #137360
click on any of the product photos at the bottom of this blog post to go right to that item in my online store.
Isn't that cool... die cutting a butterfly out of printed paper!? Use a fairly small pattern and you'll see such pretty colorful results on your die cut!! Be sure to use your Precision Base Plate and the Die Brush with these intricate designs for best results (see supply photo list at the bottom of this post for all ordering info - just click the product photos to see more info on each product in my online Stampin' UP! store).
As mentioned in the video above, I was using up some supplies from my March Paper Pumpkin kit, and I also made these cards with some of the supplies and the same fluttering embossing folder and the Birthday Bouquet paper die cut butterflies.
Hope you enjoyed that fun "stamping on embossing folder" technique.. have you done that before?
As you know, I'm away in Salt Lake City, UT this week at the Stampin' UP! OnStage 2016 Live event (it's the new name for "Convention"), and of course I always take swap cards with me... meeting new friends, seeing old friends and swapping with all my buddies is a highlight of the trip!
Here are some of the cards I took with me to swap TODAY!!
I used the Stampin' Up! Crumb Cake notecards as my base card. The lace is a patterned paper in the Timeless Elegance package of paper (soooo pretty!), and then I've added stamping in the background, and cut out flowers and leaves from the Picture Perfect stamp set! All the stamps on this card can be found on pages 36 and 37 in the 2016 Occasions catalog.
Some of you "joined me" on my fussy-cutting journey as I shared that on Instagram and Facebook on evening last week... here is what I was sharing as the night went on:
I stamped and hand cut (fussy cut) about 100 flowers and leaves to add to these swap cards!
Many of you commented that you felt sorry for me or that your hand was cramping just looking at all that cutting, but I truly LOVE fussy cutting and it went pretty quickly.. I was done in just over an hour!
A few special details on this card:
1/2 of a Gold Metallic Foil Doily tucked under the flowers makes this card really sparkle!
the "flourish" stamp is stamped with Crumb Cake ink on Crumb Cake note card for a subtle background
the "forever friends" stamp is stamped in Archival Black ink to really make this card pop
the flowers (from Picture Perfect) were stamped in Blushing Bride and Calypso Coral (I only used 2 of the 3 flower stamp images)
one flower is adhered right to the card and the other is raised with Stampin' Dimensionals
Wild Wasabi Seam Binding ribbon helps tie in the green leaves into the color scheme
the beautiful black lace paper is from the Timeless Elegance paper pack
a little hard to see, but on the very left side of the card, I also stamped a little "texture" stamp from the Timeless Textures stamp set in Crumb Cake ink
BELOW: Left: First Sight stamp set , and Right: Picture Perfect stamp set
I love these 2 stamp sets and LOVE them together!! Again, they are currently on pgs 36 and 37 in the Occasions catalog, but you can also find them online by clicking any of the product photos below!
If you would like to purchase the supplies to make these cards, you can also do that by clicking the product photos below. And REMEMBER.. DOUBLE POINTS this week on your Free Stamps with Patty form (click here) - so this is a great time to grab the products you've had your eye on!
The Rose Garden Thinlit die is still on sale on the Weekly Deals today.. so I thought why not share these cards with you now!! I used both the Rose Wonder stamp set, and the Rose Garden Thinlit dies from Stampin' UP! They are available in both a bundle, or separately, and you'll find the discounted BUNDLE HERE, the stamp set HERE and the thinlit die on sale through today HERE.
Left: the card above on the left, was simply colored with Stampin' Write Markers right onto the photopolymer rubber and stamped on a white card. I wanted simple and clean.
Right: the card above on the right was stamped like the one on the left, then I sponged color over the rose area, and then added just the flower portion of the die cut with my Fine Tip Glue Pen. I also fancied up the corner with the Curvy Corner Trio punch and then layered the white cardstock onto Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango.
I wanted the card above on the right to look like one of the roses in my garden, so I used Daffodil Delight ink and Calpyso Coral ink with my sponge daubers:
I guess I sort of achieved that.
If you are looking for a really lovely way to create a card with this Rose Garden Thinlit Die and your Wink of Stella Glimmer pen, WATCH THIS VIDEO!
I love the versatility of using just the stamp, or just the die cut, or both together. This is a great bundle of products if you like to create floral cards, specifically rose cards!
Happy Stamping!! Have fun crafting your own rose cards!

One of the cards I stamped for our son Jason's birthday last month is this fun penguin card!
Why Penguins? Jason and I love them!! :)
The cute penguins are so easy to stamp and die cut using the matching Big Shot Framelit dies!! yay!
The festive birthday patterned paper I used on this card is from the Cherry on Top paper stack.
Jason and I have been collecting stuffed penguins for about 20 years. We have a huge collection that comes out to be displayed only at Christmas. I haven't counted but I think we have over 50 now!
Below: this was a scrapbook page that I made many years ago.. I sure wish I would have kept that penguin wheel!!!
The Snow Place / Snow Friends stamp set and big shot framelit bundle debuted in the Holiday catalog last fall but it's still available - see page 48 in the Occasions catalog for all the fun bundles that are still available from the Holiday catalog.
I used lots of layers when assembling his penguin card, and tons of Stampin' Dimensionals.
The penguins are stamped in Archival Black ink on Thick Whisper White cardstock and die cut with the matching framelits in my Big Shot. The balloons are punched out of scraps of designer paper using the Balloon Bouquet punch.
I also used a strip of the (retired) Sale a Bration glitter tape so that it kind of looked like they were standing on snow!

Guess what? These sweet notecards check all those boxes! :)
You might recognize this card design from my Luv 2 Stamp Group 3x3 sampler swap.. I made lots of extra 3x3 squares so that I could turn them in to note cards!!
I used the Stampin' Up! Thick Whisper White Note Cards, the Grateful Bunch stamp set and the matching Blossom Bunch flower punch to create these quick and easy note cards!
Click the photo below to purchase your stamp set and punch BUNDLE at 15% off!
I layered the 3x3 stamped artwork piece onto the Thick Whisper White note cards then stamped different greetings at the bottom of each card.
Simple. Easy. Quick. Cute. Done.
Find this great stamp set and flower punch bundle (save 15% when you buy them together!) HERE or on pg 22 in the 2016 Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog.
Pick a 3 or 4 color combo, then stamp the flowers in all of those colors on Whisper White, then punch them all out with the Blossom Punch, then layer them in all different combos!
Be sure to put a cute It's My Party Enamel dot in the center of each flower... that really makes them POP!
Layer your punched flowers with Glue Dots and/or Stampin' Dimensionals depending on how much height/dimension you want on your card.
Mix it up with different pattern paper pieces from the Birthday Bouquet designer paper pack, and different background cardstock colors like Blushing Bride and Daffodil Delight.
Need a fun birthday card? Use this great design idea from my friend Cindee!!
1. Pick a 3 color combo of your choice from Stampin' Up!
2. Grab the Balloon Celebration stamp set and matching balloon punch
3. Select a birthday greeting - we used one from the Suite Sayings set
Cindee, Joy and I made this card together, and I was delighted with this fun new color combo that I'd never used before!
Did you see that adorable touch of Baker's Twine cuteness!? Such a fun little bow added with a glue dot... the perfect touch!
Another fun design element is the added sparkle of some rhinestones on each balloon, over the little bit of Wink of Stella sparkle!
I seriously love this fun color combo and this cheery card!! I can't wait to make more and try other color combos!
If you've browsed on Pinterest much lately, you have probably seen this fun design trend for cards.. adding a touch of black and white stripes to a card.. I just love that POP and ZING it gives a card!
The black and white striped border comes from the Neutrals designer series paper stack.
Cindee has a great tip for you when you stamp and punch your balloons.. CLICK HERE to see her video.
How about these 3 color combos... which one will you try for your birthday balloon card?

Honestly.. everyone tells you ... "the years go by faster the older you get"... but how is it that 25 years have sped by since my sweet little baby Jason was born!?
I guess "they" were right!
Jason turned 25 last week and I thought I'd share one of the cards I made for him, but first a peek at my cutie when he was just a little :) .. actually, he really never was "a little" because he was over 10 lbs when he was born! :)
Of course being a significant birthday, I thought it would be fun to make him a card using the Large Number / Number of Years framelits! It made him smile... that's truly my mission in life.. :)
I added the die cut number 2 and 5 and punched balloons onto a Gate Fold Card and covered just about every inch of the cardstock with party patterned paper from the "It's My Party" paper stack and the "Cherry on Top" paper stack!
Stamping the balloons in all different colors and punching them out was too fun.. I just love these festive balloons! This is the Stampin' Up! color combo I used on this card:
The die cut numbers were created using the Large Numbers framelits (#140622) and Island Indigo cardstock (see below for details on making them glimmery!), and I stamped and punched lots of balloons using the Balloon Celebration stamp set and the matching Balloon Bouquet punch (get a 15% discount.. buy them together! #140810). The polkadot balloons are punched out using one of the patterns in the Schoolhouse Designer Paper Package (#138187).
I wanted to glitz it up just a little.. so I swiped my Clear Wink of Stella pen over the 2 and the 5 Island Indigo cardstock and make it glimmery!! :)
As you can see I also lined the inside of the card with festive party print paper!! (Stripes are from the "It's my Party" stack, and balloons are from the "Cherry on Top" stack - see below for easy ordering.. click any product photo to go to my online store).
I shared this photo collage (below) on Facebook on his birthday last week, but if you didn't see it, I thought I'd share it here ... I love that Jason has been drawing on blueprints with me, with Eric and with my dad ever since he was little.. now he works in the same Engineering office as Eric does.. so fun!!!

ALTERNATE DESIGN IDEAS FOR the
MARCH 2016 PAPER PUMPKIN KIT:
I love to create the projects as they are intended in the monthly Paper Pumpkin kits, but I also love to come up with slightly altered ideas!!
Which do you like best? Do you make the kits "as is" or do you alter them?
Here are some ideas for altering your March 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit:
As you can see, I added the flower from the "What I Love" stamp set - a free Sale a Bration item only available until 3/31/16!, and the beautiful swirly flourish image from the "First Sight" stamp set.
See more Alternate Paper Pumpkin kit design ideas brought to you by the Luv 2 Stamp Group HERE.
It was so funny.. I thought this stamp said Happy Birthday.. then I saw it said Happy Happy after I stamped it... LOL
Above: I love the 3 step floral image in the "What I Love" Sale a Bration set, and here I used only 1 of the 3 layers of this stamp, then cut it out and mounted it with Stampin' Dimensionals. I added the pretty pearls from the Paper Pumpkin kit to the center of the flower. You can also see that I added some script design paper from the 2015-2017 In Color designer paper stack - it's Mint Macaron.
Wondering about the beautiful color combo in this kit? It reminds me of the beautiful Caribbean sea colors on our Stampin' Up! cruises!!
Have you tried this technique yet??
I don't even know if it has a name.. but you simply emboss your cardstock (in this case with the FLUTTERING embossing folder) and then ink a stamp like this swirly flourish stamp from the First Sight set, and keep stamping VERY LIGHTLY over and over and over all over the raised embossed image! Voila.. what a cool way to accent the raised embossed area!
You really should try this.. it's such a cool way to accent the raised portion of any embossed cardstock!
The little pocket and mini card on the front of the Happy Happy card are both in the Paper Pumpkin Kit. The square card below is also in the kit, as is the pretty patterned paper. I added the gorgeous Pool Party Glitter ribbon to the card below.. such a perfect accent color for this Paper Pumpkin kit!
Stamping Tip! Sponge it!
Watch the video below for more info about the FREE set called All About Everything!
If you'd like to see the projects before they were altered, check out the video below:
