ALTERNATE DESIGN IDEAS FOR the
MARCH 2016 PAPER PUMPKIN KIT:
I love to create the projects as they are intended in the monthly Paper Pumpkin kits, but I also love to come up with slightly altered ideas!!
Which do you like best? Do you make the kits "as is" or do you alter them?
Here are some ideas for altering your March 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit:
As you can see, I added the flower from the "What I Love" stamp set - a free Sale a Bration item only available until 3/31/16!, and the beautiful swirly flourish image from the "First Sight" stamp set.
See more Alternate Paper Pumpkin kit design ideas brought to you by the Luv 2 Stamp Group HERE.
It was so funny.. I thought this stamp said Happy Birthday.. then I saw it said Happy Happy after I stamped it... LOL
Above: I love the 3 step floral image in the "What I Love" Sale a Bration set, and here I used only 1 of the 3 layers of this stamp, then cut it out and mounted it with Stampin' Dimensionals. I added the pretty pearls from the Paper Pumpkin kit to the center of the flower. You can also see that I added some script design paper from the 2015-2017 In Color designer paper stack - it's Mint Macaron.
Wondering about the beautiful color combo in this kit? It reminds me of the beautiful Caribbean sea colors on our Stampin' Up! cruises!!
Have you tried this technique yet??
I don't even know if it has a name.. but you simply emboss your cardstock (in this case with the FLUTTERING embossing folder) and then ink a stamp like this swirly flourish stamp from the First Sight set, and keep stamping VERY LIGHTLY over and over and over all over the raised embossed image! Voila.. what a cool way to accent the raised embossed area!
You really should try this.. it's such a cool way to accent the raised portion of any embossed cardstock!
The little pocket and mini card on the front of the Happy Happy card are both in the Paper Pumpkin Kit. The square card below is also in the kit, as is the pretty patterned paper. I added the gorgeous Pool Party Glitter ribbon to the card below.. such a perfect accent color for this Paper Pumpkin kit!
Stamping Tip! Sponge it!
Watch the video below for more info about the FREE set called All About Everything!

Stamping with friends.. it's the best!! Recently I had the opportunity to help 2 young friends with Bridal Shower invitations for their friend!! Here we are, each with our own task, creating the 30 invitations!
WARNING: stamping with friends may cause spontaneous smiles and laughter!! :)
They told me that the colors were red, black and white, with red roses, and that the bride-to-be also likes gold.. so.. we went to work stamping the flower from the Rose Wonder stamp set onto Whisper White notecards, then covering the front with a 3" wide panel of the Sale a Bration Botanical Garden vellum which was stamped with "celebrate today".
We added 2 punched black glimmer paper hearts to the front of the card.
As you can see below, we thought about adding black ribbon, but decided to go with a piece of the gold Metallic Glitter tape - one of the newest Sale a Bration items!
Sale a Bration is ending SOON!!!! If you don't have the beautiful Botanical Gardens vellum, or this amazing glitter tape, you have a few days left to select them as your free gifts during 2016 Sale a Bration from Stampin' Up! One free gift with each $50 in Stampin' UP! product orders until 3/31/16. Click to order online!
We added some snail adhesive under the hearts to adhere the vellum to the card, and the gold glitter tape also helps hold down the vellum.
The girls were thrilled with the outcome of the invitations, and they texted a photo to the bride-to-be for approval.. it was a fun and productive stamping date!! And guess what.. it only took us an hour!!
We used up some of the scraps of black glimmer paper to punch small hearts to add to the left inside of the card with "wedding wishes" stamped in black.
I think they turned out really classy!
I saw that Katina cut apart the rose and leaves from the Rose Wonder stamp and I thought that was a great idea.. it allows you to stamp the flower in one color and the leaves in another!! It was the perfect time-saver for this card!!

As I was making more of these amazing Botanical Gardens Customer Thank You cards, I was wondering.. how many possible flower combinations do you think there are with all of the great flower and leaf framelits in the Botanical Builder Framelit set!?
Here are just a few possible combinations!
FREE during Sale-a-Bration 2016
I love the pretty Sale a Bration Botanical vellum on these cards and the fun bold JUST FOR YOU stamp - also a Sale a Bration item.. each one is FREE with your $50 purchase during sale a bration - ENDING March 31!!
You can purchase the Botanical Builder framelits on their own to use with cardstock or designer paper, or you can purchase the amazing bundle at a 15% discount that includes THREE items: a stamp set, framelits and designer paper!
You can see the wonderful flower and leaf framelits dies above, and if there are any math genius types out there who want to figure out how many possible combinations of flower layers we could make with this, feel free to comment below.
TIP: when using darker cardstock like the Cajun Craze and Mossy Meadow found in the Botanical Gardens cardstock pack, I like to line the inside of my card with Whisper White cardstock and then I thought, why not add some pretty Washi Tape from the Botanical Suite as well!!? whohooo! so pretty... and again, so many possible combinations!
Stamp with Sara and Patty!!
You can see our video with the details to make these fun Botanical Gardens cards with the Just for You Sale a Bration stamp below - it was like a dream come true day to stamp with Sara Douglass of Stampin' Up! in Shelli Gardner's craft room! Oh my!!
If you can't view the video, see it HERE on YouTube.
Easter is so early this year!! I remember the year my son Jason was born, Easter was a couple days after his birthday, and it's the same this year! Can you believe our son will be 25 on Friday!? WHAT!? I know!! crazy!
I made a few of these sweet chickie cards to mail out for Easter and customer thank you cards.. hope you enjoy the idea!
I love how the Confetti embossing folder creates the perfect frame, and the "blank" space to stamp in! The Easter greeting is from the Suite Sayings stamp set, stamped in Archival Black Ink.
After embossing the 4" x 5-1/4" Whisper White cardstock with the Confetti folder, I stamped the chickie onto the white card and also stamped the Easter greeting. Then stamped the chickie onto the yellow polkadot paper (see THIS post for that info) and colored the beak and feet with my Tangerine Tango marker.
Do you see how the feet are actually stamped on the card, so that you don't have to cut out the feet on the polkadot paper!? :)
To finish off the cards, I punched some flowers using my favorite little Petite Petals punch and the subtle polkadot paper from the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper pack (#140557). I was going to punch bright colored flowers, but then I really liked the subtle look of the nearly white on white.
I finished off the center of each flower with a Candy Dot.

I participated in another 3"x3" swap with my Luv 2 Stamp group - super talented and amazing demonstrators - and wanted to share my framed Occasions Catalog spring sampler with you!!
Each of us created 9 squares, all 3"x3" using flowers from the Stampin' UP! 2016 Occasions catalog or Sale a Bration sets or paper, and everyone mailed them to me. I "swapped" them so that each person got 9 different squares, and then mailed them off to everyone!
I put my 9 squares in this 12x12 white wood frame from the craft store.
This is such a pretty piece to hang in your home and such an easy DIY home decor project to make!
I layered the 9 squares onto a piece of Mint Macaron designer paper and then onto a piece of Daffodil Delight designer paper. I thought this really brought out the pretty spring colors! You'll find those paper stacks on pg 144 of the annual catalog at the bottom of the page.
Most of the squares featured the Botanical Gardens bundle of framelits, stamps and paper, but as you can see there were other flowers represented as well. I will have a future blog post with all of the squares and the products used in each one. Watch my blog for that in a week or so.
One of the fun perks of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is receiving extra exclusive ideas and training from Stampin' UP! Recently, in a training email, Stampin' Up! reminded us that the Perfect Pairings stamp set (a free item during Sale a Bration 2016 with your $50 order) has so many possibilities... there are 9 stamps in the set and you can combine them for lots of different possible greetings!
I decided to play with the stamps and see what tags I could create!
I had fun die cutting lots of different labels and tags with Thick Whisper White cardstock and my Big Shot, and then stamping them with the greetings in the Perfect Pairings stamp set, and embellishing the tags and labels with the great background stamps in the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set!
I started with the Sale a Bration stamp set and lots of die cut tags with Whisper White cardstock, then decided on a bright color palette after punching a few balloons with the Cherry On Top paper stack!
This is the bright cheery color combo I used, based on the Cherry on Top paper stack. There is a pinable version at the bottom of this post.
If you'd like to see all of the tag and label framelits I used, check out the product list at the bottom of this post. You can click on any of the product photos to go right to the online store for more info and easy 24/7 ordering online.
2 Questions for you ...
Can you just imagine all the possibilities??
and
Wouldn't it be fun to have all these tags stamped and ready to go for your next gift or card?
Pinable Color Combo graphic for my Perfect Pairings tags:
So... did you catch that? The Perfect Pairings stamp set is ONLY AVAILABLE THROUGH 3/31/16 as one of your free Sale a Bration items, with your $50 order!
Check out all of the available free Sale a Bration items below!
To create the tag, cut your Whisper White cardstock to 2" wide, then punch the top with the Ornate Tag Topper Punch and the bottom with the Banner Triple Punch.
To decorate the tags, I brought along several 2" wide strips of designer paper from the Cherry on Top paper stack (#138443) and we just punched whichever patterns we wanted to out of those paper strips using the Banner Triple Punch, layered the pieces, then combined them on our cards. You can see below, that each of our cards turned out differently!
To finish off the cards, we added 2 nice brightly colored ribbons:
We also stamped flowers using the 2016 Sale a Bration set called What I Love in Watermelon Wonder ink and Cucumber Crush ink, then cut them out with Paper Snips before adding them to our cards with Stampin' Dimensionals. Did you know you can select that pretty flower stamp set as one of your free items with your $50 order during Sale a Bration?
All of the black and white paper patterns are found in the Neutrals Color Collection paper stack (#138435)
THANKS FOR BEING YOU is stamped in Memento black ink and you'll find that in my favorite greeting set called Suite Sayings.
Oh, and we also added a bit of the Sale a Bration Metallic Glitter tape, and some It's My Party Enamel Dots!
What do you think? Kind of BOLD, I know... but I think it's fun and just what we needed to celebrate Joy's birthday!
DID YOU KNOW?? You can click any of the colors above to see some great Stampin' UP! products available in each color!
And because may of you have asked that I provide a pinable color combo graphic for you, here you go:
I wasn't sure how to take a photo of all 3 of us, so I took a photo facing into the mirror :) Oh, and Cindee is redoing parts of her amazing craft room.. you can see an update here!

Have you tried out this fun "Enjoy the Little Things" kit yet? It's in the 2016 Stampin' UP! Occasions catalog and it's a fun kit to assemble! In addition to the darling blackboard clipboard easel included in the kit, there are supplies to create 13 interchangeable display pages! AND you'll have lots of left over supplies to create a few cards or embellish your pages!
My friend Cindee invited me to create my kit during her class on Saturday and I have to tell you it was so much fun stamping with friends! If you have a friend or 2, invite them over to create this fun kit!! Just have everyone order a kit (here online) and you'll need the stamp set (here) and a few ink pads and adhesive!
A couple of fun alternative tips for you when creating your "Enjoy the Little Things" project sheets:
1. Below: use the Sale a Bration Metallic Glitter tape behind the holes in the confetti card, and you'll see fun glimmer dots on your finished page!!
2. Below: use more of the Sale a Bration Metallic Glitter Tape to accent the gold and glimmer on this balloon page.
3. Below: I used the balloon strings stamp from the Balloon Celebration stamp set and added extra punched balloons to this page.. the kit comes with enough extra supplies to punch several extra balloons!
4. Below: I added MORE Sale a Bration Metallic Glimmer tape to the bottom portion of the harvest card, and also stamped one of the coordinating stamps from the Enjoy the Little Things stamp set under the acorns, since I didn't get my spacing just perfect.. I thought it was an easy fix!
As mentioned in the first photo in this blog post, I decided to create about 1/2 of the project sheets to display in my clipboard easel, and I repurposed the other 1/2 of the project sheets into greeting cards using my own cardstock for the folded cards.
If you are curious about the 13 finished sheets from this kit.. here they are below:
ABOVE: 13 finished projects sheets in this kit to display in the chalkboard easel
BELOW: Enjoy the Little Things kit contents
I hope you'll enjoy creating your kit!! Grab a few friends and make it together! :)
Supplies you'll want to have on hand when creating your Enjoy the Little Things kit:
So this is just one of those cards that I think is 8,000 times prettier in person.. when you color with the Wink of Stella, it just doesn't show up as well in photos.. so trust me, this is gorgeous in person! :)
I die cut the Bloomin' Heart thinlit die (pg 16 of the current Occasions catalog) using watercolor paper, then I watercolored the flowers and leaves with my Clear Wink of Stella Pens and Stampin' UP! ink refills in Mossy Meadow and Calypso Coral.
I tried both wetting the paper first and then using the Wink of Stella pen, and I also tried not wetting it first, and it was ok either way (you'll see what I mean in this video).
The Bloomin' Heart thinlit die is so gorgeous!! I decided to try this one out using Watercolor Paper! While I'm pretty sure that these dies aren't meant to cut the watercolor paper, it did do a great job and I only had to pick out a little part of it with a Paper Piercer after using the Big Shot die brush to roll over it (see the Stampin' UP! video HERE for more info on that).
I WISH you could see all the beautiful sparkle on this card, created by coloring with the Wink of Stella pen!!! CLICK HERE to see a video of this fun technique on a previous card!
I used a circle template to trace a part of a circle on the front flap of my card, then cut it out, and used the circle template again to draw a black like with my Project Life marker. It really made the front of this card zing! When I stamped the thank you, I curved it a bit on the clear block so that it would fit perfectly along the curve. Don't have a circle template? try a dinner plate.
To make it easier when I am coloring with my Wink of Stella pens, I wrap washi tape around the pen and cap in a similar color to what I'm using. You can always just wipe them off in between colors, and keep using the same pen, or, have multiple pens going in different colors.
This delicate, yet bold card is also accented with the Calypso Coral script pattern in the Subtles Color Collections DSP stack (pg 144 in the current annual catalog), and a piece of Mossy Meadow patterned paper from the Botanicals paper pack, some Silver Glimmer tape (a Sale a Bration item you can get free with your $50 order), some Calypso Coral Seam Binding Ribbon and a Rhinestone in the center of each flower.
Card Base: Thick Whisper White, 4-1/4" x 11" folded in 1/2
I would love to help you if you have questions about this project, and if you need any of these supplies, shopping online is easy.. just click any of the product photos below to go to my online store!
You know I'm a big fan of the Paper Pumpkin monthly crafting kits, right? Sometimes I make up the kits just as they are in the box, and sometimes I add a little somethin' somethin' to them... for the February kit, I used the supplies in the kit and only added 2 things...
The 2 items I added to the kit for these cards are:
a stamped chickie from the Honeycomb Happiness Sale a Bration stamp set
a strip of gold glimmer tape - a new Sale a Bration item!!
All of the other supplies you see on these cards were part of the kit... WAY too cute!
Polkadot Easter chickie: It's so easy.. just stamp your chickie onto the Daffodil Delight polkadot pattern in the Brights Color Collection paper stack with your black ink pad, then cut him (her??) out with your paper snips. ALSO Stamp the chickie onto your card .. that way you don't have to cut out the feet on the polkadot one!! ... the feet are on the card and you can put the polkadot body right over the stamped image on the card.. make sense?
EEK! I know.. great tip, right!?
The Honeycomb Happiness stamp set (with the chickie) and the Gold Glitter tape are both free gift selection items from Stampin' UP! with your $50 purchase during Sale a Bration 2016. For more info, CLICK HERE and watch my video!

I do love you .. yes, I do! This was one of the cards I made for our son Jason for Valentine's day.. he and I both share a love for penguins, so I thought this would made him smile and it did!
I used the adorable Pyramid Pals Thinlit dies and the coordinating Playful Pals stamp set (these are on pgs 44/45 of the 2016 Occasions catalog). I dressed up my penguin with a scarf and top hat from the Snow Friends framelit dies (carried over from the Holiday catalog - see all the carry over bundles on pg 48 of the Occasions catalog - and see all products used for this card at the bottom of this post).
In the background of my Valentine card, you'll notice I embossed the Whisper White piece with the Happy Heart embossing folder, and layered part of a Project Life card onto the background as well. I also embellished it with a die cut heart from the Cups and Kettles framelit set! I layered it all onto a folded Real Red card.
Cindee created the cute animals below, and gave me the penguin, so I used it as inspiration for my card above!
This bundle will let you create great little 3-d boxes for classroom treats, party favors, co-worker gifties or decorations for parties!
Did you see all the fun animals you can make with this bundle (watch the video below)? Of course don't let your imagination be limited to just animals.. look at these cuties by Nicole!
WATCH the Stampin' Up! video below for more info on this great bundle!
Having trouble viewing the video? see it HERE on Youtube.
Because You're So Awesome.... do you know where to find that stamp?? It's actually from one of the FREE Sale a Bration gift choices .. it's in the Botanicals for you set (pg 4, 2016 Sale a Bration brochure). Isn't it perfect for this card!? Thanks again Cindee for the great idea!!
