Wedding Card idea with Climbing Orchids
July 23, 2017
We are so excited to celebrate the wedding of 2 very special people this weekend, and this is the handstamped card I made for them! It features the new Stampin' UP! Climbing Orchid stamp set and matching Orchid Builder framelit dies. If you haven't noticed this beautiful Orchid stamp set yet in the 2017 catalog, it's on page 21! (Hey, it's also a bundle.. save 10% when you buy them together #145334).
I know this might not be a typical wedding card.. but as I was working on it, I thought it just might be the perfect wedding card for a summer outdoor wedding for Ashley and Dom! I hope they love it!
I promise I will have a video tutorial featuring this amazing Climbing Orchid bundle very soon for you! There are several ways to use this stamp set and the matching framelits, so I know you are going to want to see all of my tips but I just couldn't wait to share this card with you!!
UPDATE: the Video is Live!! Watch my free Climbing Orchid video tutorial HERE!
When you look at this Climbing Orchid stamp set (here online, pg 21 in the catalog), you'll see that there are MANY orchid images. I used the outline images stamped in Archival Basic Black ink for this card, and colored them in with my Clear Wink of Stella pen acting as my paint brush, dipped into Lemon Lime Twist and Berry Burst ink!
Each flower has 2 or 3 layers, plus the center. I also added a die cut branch from the Seasonal Layers framelit set, and put the branch into a die cut jar from the Everyday Jars framelit set. I curled each petal with the bone folder. I'll show you more about that in my upcoming video tutorial.
The inside (and the oval tag on the front) are stamped with images from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set in Berry Burst ink... truly one of the most versatile sets in the whole catalog! Find it on page 92 or here online.
The card base and greetings are all Berry Burst. One of the new 2017-2019 In Colors.
Although it might be hard to see in the photos, the white background is embossed with the Layered Leaves embossing folder, found on page 211 in the Stampin' Up! catalog or HERE in my online Stampin' Up! store. It's pretty subtle, but lends a very elegant touch!
I also added Wink of Stella to the water in the Everyday Jars die cut so that the blue would shimmer like water.
The Happy Wedding day greeting is also in the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set (mentioned above) and was stamped in Berry Burst on a Stitched Shape framelit oval die cut in Whisper White on the Big Shot.

Patty, you did such an amazing job on this card. The orchids are so well done! You are a flower gal! I have two orchid plants in my office and look at them often. They hold bloom for a very long time. These stamps and your artsy way with them is superb. Thanks for sharing!
