Sneak Peek: 4x6 cards & envelope packs!

 

Can you Guess what I am really excited about??  In the new 2018-2019 Stampin' Up! catalog, we will be able to purchase large note cards with envelopes, sized perfectly for the 4x6 Memories & More cards!!!  yay!  (find them on pg 194)

COMING SOON!!!

So why might this be so exciting?  I have been wanting to use the beautiful detailed die cut image (below, from the  Petal Passion Memories & More card pack), but there is just no way to cut it down and keep the entire image on a regular size card! But since I was able to preorder these 4x6 cards as part of my demonstrator preorder earlier this month, I am excited to be able to create a card with this die cut!

 

 

Above:  I cut a piece of the Petal Garden 6x6 designer paper down to 4x6 with my Stampin' Trimmer, and then just used my fine tip glue pen and my silicone craft sheet, to add glue to the detailed die cut and put it right on top of the 4x6 designer paper!  Isn't it so pretty!?  Then, it fits perfectly onto the new large note card!!

 

How simple! How beautiful!  How quick and easy!  yay!

As you can see, the Large cards are sized to provide a border around the 4x6 card, and then they fit right into the envelopes in the pack!!

The thank you image is from the Label Me Pretty stamp set.. I performed a little "stamp surgery" on the stamp with an Xacto knife, and then punched it out with the 1-3/8" scalloped circle punch.  :)

Easy Petal Passion Greeting Card Ideas

I colored this paper with my Stampin' Blends markers and then added the "smile" and "hello" die cuts from the (now retired and SOLD OUT) Petal Passion Memories & More card pack.  Check out my tip below for sponging the vibrant color onto the die cut and butterfly!

Have you tried this?  I got a small bottle of glycerin at the drug store and mixed 1 drop with 1 drop of Rich Razzleberry reinker with my sponge dauber, then dabbed on the color to the die cut and the butterfly and WOW.. so vibrant and it goes on so smoothly!

Simple Note Card Ideas - A Mother's Flair

Retiring Stamp Set Alert!

I have a trio of cards for you today, all featuring the Stampin' UP! retiring set called A Mother's Flair.  Each card features the thick Whisper White Note Cards and is decorated with a stamp from the set plus a different piece of designer paper on each card.

 

Above:  the cute hat and greeting from A Mother's Flair is stamped in the new In Color called Lovely Lipstick, on a Whisper White Stitched Shape square, then mounted to a scalloped square die cut in another new In Color called Pineapple Punch!  The note card has a piece of the Daisy print form the Delightful Daisy paper.  The scallop is die cut from the Seasonal Layers framelits in yet ANOTHER new In Color called Blueberry Bushel.  The Night of Navy Gingham ribbon finishes off this cute note card.

Above:  the stylish shoe image from A Mother's Flair is stamped in Archival Black Ink, on a Whisper White Stitched Shape square, then mounted to a scalloped square die cut in Real Red cardstock!  The note card has a piece of polkadot print form the Whole Lot of Lovely designer paper.  A metallic circle colored with the Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends maker finishes off this cute note card.

Above:  the cute purse and greeting from A Mother's Flair is stamped in memento black ink on Whisper White cardstock, then added to the note card which has a piece of the floral Sweet Soiree paper.  The Berry Burst die cut "YOU" finishes off this card.  This was one of the framelits offered during Sale-a-Bration but it's also in the new catalog starting June 1st, .. it's called Celebrate You.

Pretty Kitty and Bella & Friends card ideas

 

 Calling all doggie and kitty fans... you are going to love the Stampin' Up! Pretty Kitty and Bella & Friends stamp sets! 

I love the cloud pattern from the Myths & Magic designer paper pack, and used them on the backgrounds of each of these cards.  Some cards are created on the thick Whisper White Note Cards from Stampin' UP! and for the 4x4 Square Cards, I just cut those out of cardstock.

Each kitty, doggie and parrot is stamped with Memento Black ink on Whisper White cardstock and colored with the Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.  (Remember, they are coming back in stock soon, so if you didn't get them earlier, your opportunity is coming soon!). 

Myths & Magic paper is on the retiring list... I hope it's still available when this post goes live.. things are selling out quickly!  Check HERE for the Myths & Magic paper.

Beautiful Day Butterfly & Flower Brusho Cards

 Create bold and colorful images using Brusho Crystal Colour pigments!!  I used the Stampin' UP! Beautiful Day stamp set, with its big, bold images, to highlight the Brusho coloring on these handmade cards today!

 

 

I sprinkled Brilliant Red, Prussian Blue and Yellow Brusho onto a scrap of watercolor paper, spritzed it with water, and when it was all dry, I stamped the butterfly image with Archival Black ink to the watercolor image.  I used my Stamparatus to do this... read on to see why! :)

 

So you may ask, WHY did you use the Stamparatus to stamp the butterfly? 

1.  because I'm stamping on watercolor paper, which is bumpy and porous

2.  because it's a pretty bold outline image

3.  because I knew I'd need to reink and restamp this this a few times to get it really solid black and the Stamparatus is the perfect way to ensure that it gets stamped in the right place!

 

 

 

I mounted the butterfly image with Stampin' Dimensionals onto my card.  The card base is Daffodil Delight, and I used 2 patterns from the Petal Passion black and white designer paper pack.  The gold accents are from the Painted with Love gold vinyl sticker collection.

 

 

Above & Below:  I stamped the flower image from the Beautiful Day stamp set with Versamark ink onto watercolor paper and heat embossed it with my heat tool.  When I painted it with the Brusho Crystal Colour pigments, the stamped outline resists the ink.  Quite magical!

Sponge Daubers on Petal Passion Paper

 

Wow... you can color the beautiful Stampin' Up! Petal Passion Paper VERY quickly by using Sponge Daubers and ink pads!

 

 

I love this floral design and this is my favorite Stampin' Up! designer paper EVER!!!

I used lots and lots of yummy Stampin' Up! ink pads and my sponge daubers (see full color list in the product photos at the bottom of this post) and I had a blast coloring this paper super quickly!  I cut it into 4" x 5-1/4" pieces and added it to Flirty Flamingo folded card bases, then stamped the Ribbon of Courage ribbon stamp with Flirty Flamingo ink onto oval die cuts!  I added the "hugs" die cut from Lovely Words thinlits to each card.  I colored the "hugs" with Wink of Stella for some shimmer!!

Retiring Petal Passion Memories & More Card Ideas

 

I was totally inspired by a fun technique Cindee Wilkinson recently shared in her blog, and I made all of these cards with the flower and butterfly stamp from the Beautiful Day stamp set!! The flower and butterfly images are stamped with black ink (any ink will do) onto the Stampin' Up! Painted with Love designer paper, then fussy cut with Paper Snips!

 

 

For the background of most of these cards, I used the Petal Passion Memories & More card pack!  There are 72 total cards in the pack and i used the 4" x 6" cards and I cut them down to fit onto regular 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" cardstock bases.   I used a couple of packs to make these.

For the cards on the bottom row I made 4x4 cards, and I used the Petal Passion designer paper.

These are pretty quick and easy.. just stamp your Beautiful Day flower and butterfly image with any black ink onto the Painted with Love printed designer paper (or any designer paper of your choice) then cut them out with Paper Snips!

I used my Paper Snips to cut out the flowers and butterflies .. I was thankful that the TSA didn't take away my handy dandy Paper Snips!!  I was cutting them out on the plane on the way to Las Vegas a couple weeks ago.

I used a variety of coordinating cardstock bases for my cards: Powder Pink, Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum and Berry Burst.  The first 3 colors listed here are RETIRING, so if you love them, get them now!  See all retiring products HERE.

I stamped the butterfly onto the card, and then put the cut out butterfly on top of the stamped image.  That way I didn't have to cut around the antennae.  I stamped the faith greeting from the Ribbon of Courage set in Berry Burst ink onto a die cut stitched shape circle.

Above & Below:  the greeting is from the Picnic With You set (here) and I colored in the black and white flowers that were printed onto the Memories & More cards with my Stampin' Blends markers.

 

 

Above:  Tip! Don't forget, it's fun to stamp greetings onto printed designer paper and punch them out.. it can really change the look of your project!

Below:  These 4x4 cards do not use the Memories & More card pack, but instead, I used the Petal Passion designer paper (um, only about the best paper pack EVER!) :)

Easiest Birthday Treat Bag EVER!

I made this quick and easy Happy Birthday Bag filled with Stampin' Up! Shreddie and a gift card for our son's birthday in March... it was the perfect, simple and understated design that suits Jason's taste. :)

 

All you have to do is stamp on the white stripes on this beautiful Gold and White Striped bag, stuff with shreddie and a gift or gift card and voila! done!

I used the happy birthday stamp from the We Must Celebrate stamp set, and Memento Black ink.

Shimmery White Embossing Paste Snow

 Have you tried out the Stampin' Up! Shimmery White embossing paste yet?  I found that it makes beautiful SNOW!

 

Yes, I know some of you may be "over" the snow this winter.. but just wanted to pass along this tip for this gorgeous technique or creating snow for your handstamped cards!!!

I stamped the Narrow White Note Card with the Waterfront stamp set from Stampin' UP!, added a piece of torn Whisper White cardstock to the bottom 1/4 of the card, then applied the Shimmery White Embossing paste to the trees and "torn snow" layer with an old toothbrush!

 

In addition to dabbing the shimmery paste onto the trees, I "brushed" it back and forth on the torn white cardstock that looks like snow at the bottom of this card!

Sponge some Pool Party ink at the top of the card for the sky, and stamp the trees in Tranquil Tide and the hills in Soft Suede ink.

Petal Passion designer paper - still my Favorite

 With each new Stampin' Up! Catalog I find a "new favorite" designer paper, and with the Occasions 2018 catalog, my favorite is the Petal Passion paper!  It's black and white, and can be used as is for card making or other crafting projects, or colored with Stampin' Blends, Stampin' Write markers, sponges, sponge daubers, spritzers, sponge brayers, etc.!

For my card below, I used a sponge brayer with Calypso Coral ink to gradually add ink to the Petal Passion paper from the bottom up.  I allowed the ink to "run out" toward the top for an ombre effect.  WATCH THE VIDEO HERE for more info.

 

ABOVE: The Thank You greeting is found in the awesome Color Me Happy stamp set - this is an ONLINE ONLY set (not found in the current catalogs).  See it HERE.  The flowers are found in the Falling Flowers set.  You can see my Stampin' Blends video tutorial for coloring them HERE.  Both images were stamped with Memento Black ink and colored/shaded with Stampin' Blends markers.

 

BELOW:  I've shared this idea before on my blog and in my Stampin' Blends Videos, and this is a great technique to use on this Petal Passion paper... color the "background" (between the flowers) with a light colored Stampin' Blends marker like the Light Pool Party marker, and then color the flowers.  It lends such an amazing finish to the card!!  (special note.. the Light Pool Party Stampin' Blends is on backorder due to the popularity of this color, but you can still order it and be on the waiting list to receive it in June when it comes back in stock).

 

Below: here is what the Petal Passion card looks like with the background colored in with the Light Pool Party Stampin' Blends (mentioned above) and the flowers colored in with other Stampin' Blends markers.
