How I stamped my Petal Palette Swap Cards for OnStage

March 30, 2018

 

If you ever have to make a LOT of cards, like the 100 Petal Palette cards I made for the upcoming Stampin' Up! OnStage event in Las Vegas, you might enjoy the tips I have for you today, including the video!!

I created a top fold card with Thick Whisper White cardstock, cut at 4-1/4" x 8-3/4" and scored at 5-1/2".  Then added the 3"x4" piece of Petal Passion designer paper to the top section.  The Petal Palette flowers are stamped in Memento Black ink onto Whisper White and colored with Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist sponge daubers.  See the whole process in my VIDEO BELOW!

 Swap Making Process:

  • I like to cut and score all my cardstock and designer paper first
  • Die cut framelits next
  • Stamp images
  • Color Images
  • Add ribbon
  • Assemble

How I used my sponge daubers to color the flowers for my Handstamped Petal Palette floral cards featuring Sponge Daubers and Stampin' UP! Petal Passion designer paper, by Patty Bennett

I know you've seen me stamp and color these Petal Palette flowers with Watercolor Pencils, Stampin' Blends markers and even Brusho Colour Crystals, but when making 100 cards I needed this to be quick.. so I chose to use the Sponge Daubers!

I added the clear and glitter epoxy shapes to the roses to look like dew drops.  You'll find these on page 33 in the 2018 Occasions catalog #145632

We Must Celebrate Jason's Birthday!

I am excited about how fun this birthday card turned out that I made for our son Jason!

He loves to feed the backyard animals at our house, so I thought this was kind of a perfect stamp image for him and a fun card!!  The stamp set is called We Must Celebrate, and it's found on pg 39 of the 2018 Occasions catalog.

Tips for creating this card:

  • Stamp the We Must Celebrate image with Memento Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock
  • Trim around the top portion of the animals with Paper Snips
  • Color the animals and color  in between the animals with the Pool Party Stampin Blends (I used the Dark one)
  • Layer onto the cloud design from the Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Paper
  • Add die cut grass from the Picnic Basket Builder framelits

I had a vision for this card.. the cute little animals outside in the sun with a sky filled with puffy white clouds and fun green grass beneath their feet... I used the cloud design in the Myths & Magic designer paper pack (pg 37 Occasions catalog, #145600 online) and the Picnic Basket Builder framelits (pg 6 in the Occasions catalog) to die cut Lemon Lime Twist and Old Olive grass (#145658 online).

 I did color my Springtime Foils paper with the Stampin' Blends markers, and I had these cards done way before Stampin' UP! announced that they had to turn off the ordering for these markers due to the huge popularity and long wait times for backorders, but I still needed to share these with you. Above:  for the greeting on this card, I stamped the sentiment from the Charming Cafe set with Berry Burst ink onto Whisper White cardstock and die cut it with the Stitched Shape framelits.  I punched a starburst Blushing Bride cardstock mat for it.  I added Berry Burst Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon to the card plus a heart from the metallic enamel shapes.

Done! Beautiful! Love them! :)

Tutti Frutti Sale a Bration friend cards

 You may remember from a few previous posts, I've been trying to use some of the Stampin' UP! products that I've been neglecting... and pair them with some new products.  So, today, I am sharing a card I created with an older framelit (Lovely Words), a new pack of designer paper (Painted with Love), and the Tutti Frutti Sale-a-Bration cards!

 

Handmade Thank you Friend cards, created with Stampin' Up! Lovely Words framelits, Tutti Fruitt cards, and Painted with Love hearts, by Patty Bennett

How To:

  1. die cut the Lovely Words "friends" framelit in the Tutti Frutti card base in the Big Shot
  2. cut a 3" x 4" piece of designer paper (I used Painted with Love) to put behind the opening (hint: a contrasting color or pattern work best)
  3. die cut extra hearts in the Painted with Love paper (I used the Lots to Love Box framelit dies)

Quick and Easy Die Cut Soda Pop Bottle Cards

Getting started on these cards was SO easy.. I die cut the pre-printed bottles with my Bottles & Bubbles framelits dies, and also punched circles and starburst circles with my punches.  I cut pieces of the Bubbles & Fizz paper to 4" x 3" and layered them onto Tutti Frutti card bases (another free SAB item!), and then just layered on circles and bottles with my snail adhesive.  Easy Peasy.

 The finishing touch on my customer Thank You cards was some Tutti Frutti Sequins.  I love them! They look like little bubbles coming up from the bottles!!

I performed Stamp Surgery on one of my stamps from the Label Me Pretty stamp set.  The stamp says "Thank You for Caring", but I just wanted one that says Thank You.. so I grabbed my Xacto knife and cut out the "for caring" part!!  :)

After stamping with my Bermuda Bay ink pad onto Whisper White cardstock, I punched them out with the 1-3/8" scalloped circle punch. Perfect!

Party Hat birthday card ideas

Hip Hip Hooray, it's a birthday celebration, with these festive Berry Burst party hat birthday cards! I took my color combo idea from the Tutti Frutti self adhesive sequins for these cards and created a pretty, and bright rainbow of birthday cards!  Each card features a piece of Springtime Foils Sale-a-Bration paper in the background on a card base of folded Thick Whisper White cardstock.

Each card features bright, fun Stampin' Up! colors, and the party hats were each stamped in 2 colors, and I cut out the "pom pom" topper to add to the hat with Stampin' Dimensionals.

The card above has a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock embossed with the Polka Dots basic embossing folder for a pop of fun!

Some of the cards feature the Berry Burst metallic edge ribbon and Tutti Frutti sequins.

Uh Oh! Get your Stampin' Blends Now!

Yesterday while I was coloring these cute doggies and kitties from Bella & Friends and the Pretty Kitty stamp sets, with my Stampin' Blends markers, Stampin' UP! announced that since these markers are SO POPULAR and the demand is so high, and the backorders are continuing to increase with the popularity of the product, Stampin' UP! has decided to turn off the ordering for all Stampin' Blends markers on Friday, March 23, at Noon MT.  They will become available to order again toward the end of May when the supplier can catch up with the demand.

Copper Dragonfly - Springtime Foils metallic cards

I had a lovely stack of Copper Foil Dragonfly die cuts on my desk, and decided they looked amazing with the Sale-a-Bration Springtime Foils paper, so these are the cards I came up with!  Did you know you can get a pack of this 12x12 Springtime Foils paper as your free gift with $50 online order!? Copper Dragonfly die cut Springtime Foils cards by Patty Bennett, featuring Stampin' Blends coloring.

Each card base is a 4-1/4" x 11" Thick Whisper White card, scored at 5-1/2" and then 2 various sized pieces of Springtime Foils paper (3 of the 4 patterns) on the base.  I tied some Peekaboo Peach Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon around each one and then added the Copper Foil paper dragonfly die cut with mini Stampin' Dimensionals. 

Easy!

After I colored the Springtime Foils paper with my Stampin' Blends markers, as shown above, I cut it up into 3"x4" pieces so that I could "spread the love" and include it on several cards, not just 1 or 2 :)

This card is equally as beautiful without the colored Springtime foils paper... see below! So pretty!

Tips & Resources:

  •  I die cut a vellum circle to place behind each dragonfly, using the Stitched Shape Framelits.  This just gives a little bit of focus to the dragonfly against the printed background.

  • Use the Mini Stampin' Dimensionals behind the body of the dragonfly.. perfect size!

I stamped the Best Wishes greetings with Flirty Flamingo ink onto Whisper White cardstock, and die cut them with the Stitched Shape framelits, then die cut 3 different cardstock colors with the Layering Ovals scalloped die to tuck behind the white oval.  (Calypso Coral, Powder Pink and Flirty Flamingo).

Embellishment Tip:

I used the Subtles Enamel Shapes in the centers of each stamped flower.  The stamped flowers are from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set (#143662).

As we are all awaiting our first glimpse at the new 2018-2019 Annual Stampin' UP! Catalog, AND a peek at the retiring list, there is one thing we know and that's the 2016-2018 Stampin' Up! color products are set to retire with the end of this current catalog.

 

 Click any one of the colors below to shop for that color in my online store!

 

That said, it doesn't mean that the products in these colors will necessarily be available through May 31... they can (and have in the past) sold out VERY quickly in April or May when customers see the retiring list officially published... so..

I stamped the flower image from the Southern Serenade stamp set (pg 49 in your 2018 Occasions catalog) in Memento Black ink onto Whisper White die cut Lots of Labels framelits (pg 214 in the current annual Stampin' Up! catalog), then colored them with my Stampin' Blends markers.  I decided to create one image with each pair of light and dark Stampin' Blends. 

To my surprise, I REALLY loved the Rich Razzleberry image.. it surprised me because I am not a pink/purple person.. but this is so lovely!!

Tips! 

  • Stamp the Southern Serenade flower image in Memento Black ink, and color with Stampin' Blends. 
  • Stamp the lace image from Southern Serenade in Crumb Cake ink .. stamp off first if you want a lighter image.
  • If you don't have a ribbon to match your card, color it with Stampin' Blends - SEE THIS POST.
  • Color each of the flowers with both the light and dark Stampin' Blends, and color the leaves with the light and dark Old Olive Stampin' Blends.

I created the actual card base from the striped piece of Springtime Foils paper, but you could also just put a piece of Springtime Foils paper on top of a folded Thick Whisper White card base.  I also added a piece of a contrasting Springtime Foils paper to the bottom 1/3 of the card, then added coordinating ribbon to each card.
