Rooted in Nature Watercolor Technique
August 18, 2018
I am sharing 2 versions of this lovely card with you today, featuring the Rooted in Nature stamp set, Wood Textures designer paper, Woodland embossing folder, and a super easy watercolor technique!!
To create this tree image, I colored with my Early Espresso and my Mossy Meadow Stampin' Write markers right onto the rubber, then spritzed the rubber with water before stamping onto the Wood Textures designer paper.
The beautiful tree on these cards is spritzed with water before stamping, and as you can see by the photo below, depending on how much water you spritz on the stamp, you can achieve different "watercolor" looks!
I created 2 different styles of this card, and it just happened to work out that it creates 3 cards because of the way I cut the 6x6 Wood Textures paper. I cut off a 2" wide strip first, then cut the 4" x 6" piece into two 3" x 4" pieces. I was able to use all 3 pieces to make 3 cards!
The Wood Textures 6x6 designer paper stack includes several different wood grain patterns in different wood tones. I used most of the lighter ones in the cards I created. You can stamp right onto it like I did with the tree image.
I also stamped the leaf trio stamp from the Rooted in Nature set with Mossy Meadow ink onto Old Olive cardstock and die cut them for accents on these cards. Rooted in Nature is from the 2018-2019 Annual Stampin' Up! catalog, pg 143 and may be purchased just as a stamp set, or in a 10% off money-saving bundle with the matching framelit dies.
The "wonderful" greeting is found in the Rooted in Nature set and stamped in Mossy Meadow ink, and the "grateful" greeting is found in a set called A Big Thank You from the 2018-2018 Annual catalog, pg 132 (#147377) and is stamped in Shaded Spruce ink.
The Grateful greeting is stamped onto a die cut from the Stitched Label framelit dies (#146828).
The background of each card is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Very Vanilla cardstock embossed with the Woodland embossing folder.
The card base is Mossy Meadow, cut to 5-1/2" x 11" and folded in half at the top.
Each card has some Linen Thread, either tied around it or in a bow. I thought it added a nice "natural" touch.
I sure hope you enjoyed these cards today!!! You can shop for all of the supplies at the bottom of this blog post. Click any product photo to go right to my online Stampin' Up! store.
