DIY Halloween Treat Idea featuring Trick or Tweet

 

 

I'll admit it.. I love candy corn!!  I only have them in October, and not too many.. but I just need that fix in October each year! I made this cute little jar to sit on my desk and will ration out these as treats for the coming few weeks :)   Any other candy corn lovers out there!?  (I know one.. he lives at my house) :)

I filled a cute little jar I bought at the Container Store with the Candy Corn and also filled a Takeout Treats box I created using the Stampin' UP! thnilit set (pg 50 in the 2018 Holiday catalog, #147927 HERE online) and the Toil & Trouble designer paper, pg 49, #147531 HERE online).

 

How to Make the Takeout Treat box:

You can see the steps below.. simply die cut 2 of the take out treat box pieces, overlap them in the center to form a + sign, and secure the 2 pieces together with a strong adhesive like Tear & Tape. 

I die cut an opening in one panel and added a piece of window sheet so that you could see the treats inside!!

Fold on all the score lines, add Tear & Tape to the 4 flaps, fold up fill and decorate!

 

I created tags for each little Halloween Trick or Treat packaging using the Spooky Sweets stamp set, Trick or Tweet stamp set the amazing Black 3/8" Glittered Organdy ribbon and some die cuts.  You can see ALL of the Stampin' UP! products I used at the bottom of this post, and simply click any product photo to shop in my online store!

Fall Leaf Pillow Box with Shimmer Paint

 

I was making some Halloween Treats, and thought, why not make some Fall Treats to hand out during the months of October and November!? 

 

 

I decorated a Stampin' UP! Pillow Box with a strip of Toil & Trouble designer paper (the pumpkin design), then die cut lots of leaves with the Detailed Leaves thinlit dies.   The Pillow Boxes are super reasonable and perfect for treats. Only $5 for a pack of 10!! click here!  The GREAT thing is... NO die cutting, folding, measuring or adhesive is required for the Pillow Boxes!! yay!

Secret #1 for making these leaves look REALLY AMAZING is some Shimmery Mist.  I mixed Stampin' UP! Bright Copper Shimmer Paint in a Stampin' Spritzer with some rubbing alcohol and sprayed the cardstock.  You can spray it prior to die cutting, or after.. it doesn't matter.

 The "enjoy" tag was created with the Takeout Treats bundle, pg 50 in the Holiday catalog.

 Secret #2 for make some amazing fall leaf die cuts is... Spray Copper Shimmer mist onto cardstock (I used Crumb Cake), then emboss it with the Corrugated Embossing Folder for amazing texture, then die cut the leaves!!  You can die cut them first, then emboss... either way works!  Or you can even spray them last.. it really doesn't matter.

 

 

Below are some of the leaves I die cut, and tied with a cute little tag with the new 3/16" Braided Linen Thread.  I punched a 1" circle out of cardstock and layered all the leaf pieces onto the circle, then added the circle to the box.  The leaves are die cut in the corrugated paper as described above, and Grapefruit Grove cardstock, shimmered with Bright Copper Shimmer Paint mist.

 

 

I started with a piece of Toil & Trouble pumpkin design paper wrapped around the box.. you can use any size.. mine was about 4" x 8".  I also added a piece of shimmered Powder Pink ruffled ribbon... when you add the copper shimmer paint to the ribbon, it gives it a fun fall look, and it's not so pink.

 

The Fall themed KitKat bars seemed like a great treat to put inside!

Tea Room Suite card and Pillow Box combo

 

Today I am excited to share a beautiful card I created with the Tea Room suite of Stampin' UP! products.  You may remember the other Tea Room Suite projects from Sunday's post HERE, and today I have another card to go along with the projects I shared yesterday!

 

This card base is a thick Whisper White Note card, with the front covered in Tea Room designer paper.  Then I die cut the scalloped shape out of the front of it and used it on the Pillow Box (shown below). 

To embellish the pillow box and the card, I stamped the tea cup, the flowers and the greenery.  Each is die cut with the Spot of Tea framelits and added to the projects.

I love that Stampin' UP! is now including some multiples of framelit images so that we can die cut more than one image at once!! What a great time saver!!

I embellished both the note card and pillow box with Artisan Pearls and Tea Room Copper Vinyl stickers.. they are the perfect accents!!

Adorable DIY Trick or Tweet Halloween Candy ideas

  

 

While I was waiting for my September Paper Pumpkin Halloween Trick or Treat kit, I decided to make other Halloween Treats.  I used the cute Shimmery Lustrous White Gable boxes (4" x 2-1/2" x 2-1/2") and the Clear Tiny Treat boxes (2" x 2" x 2").

Thanks to everyone who voted in my poll.. I was curious when everyone was making their Halloween Treats this year!  October seemed to be the most popular response!

I stamped and colored images from the Trick or Tweet stamp set with my Memento Black ink pad and my Stampin' Blends. I stamped them on Stitched Shape Oval die cuts (Whisper White cardstock).  Did you see this cute Trick or Tweet stamp set? It's on pg 50 in the 2018 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog, or HERE in my online store. 

 

I love coloring with my Stampin' Blends.. did you see all the new colors available in the Holiday catalog!!??  See them ALL HERE!

 

 I love the shimmery Lustrous White gable boxes.. they are the perfect size for a treat, and allow you a little room for some decorating!! :)   I added some cute Lemon Lime Twist ruffled ribbon so that it wasn't tooooo spooky :)  I wrapped a 2" wide piece of Toil & Trouble printed designer paper around the box before tying the ribbon on.  The Lemon Lime Twist scalloped oval is die cut from the In Color 6x6 Designer paper stack with the Layering Ovals framelits.

 

Above: the tiny clear treat boxes are also a great size for treats anytime of year!!  I put a couple packs of M&M's in this one, decorated it with my colored "super doggie" and some Gorgeous Grape striped ribbon!  The cute polka dot Gorgeous Grape paper is from the 6x6 Brights paper stack and die cut with the Layering Ovals framelits.

Celebrating 20 Years with Christine - Tea Room Suite

 Last weekend I had fun celebrating Christine!!  She has been a demonstrator in my Luv 2 Stamp Group for 20 years!!!!!!!  How amazing is that!!??

 

 

I made up some goodies for her using the Stampin' UP! Tea Room suite of products.  I created a card, a copper tin, a pillow box and a tag.  I put a coupon for a $200 shopping spree inside the pillow box... Christine is the first one on my team to reach a 20 year milestone with Stampin' UP! and I am so exited to celebrate her!!!!   She'll also be recognized at the Stampin' Up! OnStage event in Orlando this November!! Whohooo!!

 

 The Pillow Box is decorated with paper, stamps and dies from the Tea Room suite, as well as the Copper Vinyl stickers and polkadot tulle ribbon. 

The card is a vanilla thick note card decorated with Tea Room designer paper and the Celebrate You thinlits die cut in Copper Foil paper.

I still remember the first time Christine and her friend Kathy came to one of my classes.. probably about 22 years ago.  We had fun stamping and she asked about becoming a demonstrator on my team a couple years later.  I'm so blessed that she has been an amazing friend and demonstrator for so many years! That is just ONE of the amazing perks of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator... making life-long friends!!

 

 

Although the large number framelit dies are retired (seriously!? WHY are they retired??) I still use them a lot and die cut them with copper foil paper to go with the copper theme of the gifts.  You can find all of the other fun products from the Tea Room Suite on pages 14 and 15 in your Annual Stampin' Up! catalog, or HERE in my online Stampin' UP! store.

Pillow Box with cute die cut bow!

 Check out this cute little pillow box, perfect for giving gift cards, candy, or small gifts at the holidays or anytime!  I colored and die cut bows using the "Bring on the Presents" stamp set and matching dies from Stampin' Up!, plus a doily to decorate the boxes!

 

Left Box: colored with Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends markers

Right Box: colored with Real Red Stampin' Blends markers

 

To create the layered bow look, stamp and color 3 bows, die cut them, then cut out one piece as show above and below. Use a bone folder to curl up the edges of each layer, gently.  Layer all 3 layers together with Stampin' Dimensionals then add to the Pillow Box.

 Below:  I added a colored doily (flipped over to the white side) under the bow to help the color really stand out.  I also wrapped the box with a 2" wide strip of designer paper - that step is optional since it really doesn't show much.

I added Red Rhinestones to the "to from" tag for a little extra splash of sparkle.

Seattle & Penguins at the Zoo - Alaska Cruise Adventure Part 1

 I am excited to share more photos of our recent Stampin' Up! Adventure!  We enjoyed a 7 day Alaska Cruise with Stampin' UP! and spent a few extra days in Seattle to explore the city and meet the penguins in person at the Woodland Park Zoo!!

I thought you might enjoy some of our hundreds of photos, condensed into a few collages, plus a quick 2 minute video about our visit with the penguins!

We stayed at the Seattle Sheraton, and it was amazing.  A lovely property within walking distance to the waterfront, to the monorail that takes you to the Space Needle, and great views of the city!

We splurged on a suite and enjoyed the corner views, extra space, 2 bathrooms, and access to the lounge on the 32nd floor for free breakfast and evening snacks! :) (or as Eric said,, it's not free... it's just "included")  :)

Upon checking into our gorgeous suite, they delivered this tray and a special fruit and chocolate dessert for Eric, to start the 60th birthday celebration!!!  We celebrated Eric's birthday for about 2 weeks, since this really was a special milestone!!

 

 On our last day in Seattle, my brother and his wife joined us, and also went on the cruise with us!! What a treat it was to vacation with them after about 30 years since our last vacation together!!!!

On our first day in Seattle, the weather was amazing, so we headed straight off to the Space Needle to take advantage of the blue skies for photos!  The last time we were there we ate at the revolving restaurant at the top of the Space Needle, but it's currently closed, undergoing major renovations, so we were only able to take photos from the observation deck.

Adjacent to the Space Needle is the Chihuly Gardens and Glass exhibit... OH MY GOODNESS.. there are no words to describe this... if you have not seen a Chihuly exhibit, I highly recommend it! There are Chihuly glass collections all over the world.  It was AMAZING!

Another stop on our "let's play tourist" adventure in Seattle was the Great Wheel.  It's a gigantic 175 foot tall Ferris wheel that goes out over the water and affords amazing views of the waterfront and the city!!  WELL worth it.. so much fun!! 

THEN... the highlight of the trip ... a visit to the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle to take a behind the scenes adventure tour of the penguin habitat!! OH MY GOSH>>> so much fun!!  Jason actually found this online and we set up this amazing tour months in advance.  I know some people dream of swimming with dolphins or stingrays, or some other type of amazing adventure, but for me (diehard penguin lover) this was just the tops!! We learned so much about them, fed them, petted them, and created life-long memories with this visit!

Our last Seattle adventure included a quick elevator ride up to the 76th floor of the Columbia Center (tallest building in Seattle) for photos from all 360 degrees around the top of the building.. again, amazing!! 

We also stopped at the Starbucks Reserve headquarters... WOW.. what a huge place.. fun to see and hear all about the operations there.

Petal Promenade paper / Beautiful Promenade set

 

I have a great Flower Layering Tip for you today featuring the Stampin' UP! Beautiful Promenade set and Petal Promenade designer paper.

ABOVE:  I made the card on the bottom and shared the idea with my friend Cindee, and she stepped it up a notch and showed me how to stamp and layer 2 of the same flower for a really beautiful look!!!!!  thanks, Cindee!!  You are the bestest!

 

ABOVE:  so it's really pretty simple... stamp 2 of the same flowers, sponge them, and then cut away the lower portion of one flower, as shown.  Curl the flowers with your bone folder (like curling ribbon) and then layer the 2 together with Stampin' Dimensionals, but "offset" them so that it looks like double the flower petals!

 

 We added die cut leaves from the Beautiful Layers thinlit dies with Mossy Meadow cardstock, added some copper thread, and then flicked Wink of Stella and Fresh Fig ink onto the card!

 These easy square cards are on a thick Whisper White cardstock base (4-1/4" sq when folded), with a layer of Fresh Fig cut to 4x4, and then the little preprinted square from the Petal Promenade paper is on top.  Add a stitched shape circle and the flowers/leaves and bam.. done!

2018 Holiday Catalog Paper Share Update

 

Great News!!

The 2018 Holiday Catalog paper shares will all go out a few days earlier than anticipated!!

 

 

Original Schedule:

August 29, 2018: I will email PayPal invoices to everyone who has reserved a share, as each group of 4 fills up.

Sept. 5, 2018: I will place a Stampin' UP! order for all the paper for everyone who has Paid their invoice.

Sept. 12 - 19, 2017: I will cut, sort, label and repackage all of the paper for you.

Beginning  Sept. 20th: I will print Paypal labels, and Paper Shares will be mailed back out, if there are no backorders.
