Quick and Easy Blossoming Basket card with Sponge Dauber

After stamping the basket image, I simply colored the flowers with a sponge dauber and Flirty Flamingo ink, and then colored the leaves and petals with Stampin' Write markers!  Voila! easy colored image!  ((REMINDER:  Flirty Flamingo is one of the retiring In Colors.. .get it now!)

 

 

Minimal coloring is quick and easy and also creates a lovely springy feel!  I used Stampin' Write markers and a Sponge Dauber.  All supplies available at the bottom of this blog post. Click any product photo to go right to my online store!

ABOVE: Card design by Cindee Wilkinson. Soft Suede cardstock embossed with the Basket Weave embossing folder, then sponged lightly with Soft Suede ink.  Basket image stamped with Memento black ink and colored with Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Calypso Coral and Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends.  Crushed Curry Scalloped Square embellishment behind the basket, as well as a piece of a white doily.  Final touches: greeting stamped on a flag, and heart tag added with a mini Stampin' Dimensional and Linen Thread bow!

 

 

 

ABOVE: Very Vanilla cardstock embossed with the Basket Weave embossing folder, then sponged lightly with Calypso Coral ink.  Basket image stamped with Memento black ink and colored with  Old Olive, Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends.   Final touches: greeting stamped on a flag, and gold metallic heart tag added to tag.  Gold Natural ribbon tied around side fold card.  Card base: thick Very Vanilla cardstock.

For an alternate look, try sponging or dragging your ink pad on the embossed cardstock. 

TIP for the card below: stamp flowers twice, color and cut out the 2nd image to layer on top of the first one, using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Painted with Love designer paper inspired card ideas

I saw this fun idea created by Barbara Smith, Stampin' Up! demonstrator in Australia, and asked her if I could make a video and share my version of her project with you! 

 

 

 These darling castles feature the Stampin' Up! Myths & Magic designer paper (I cut out the dragons, knights and mermaid princesses), the Brick Wall embossing folder, some sponging and a fun idea for the castle door. You can also stamp, color and die cut images from the Magical Day bundle!  Watch the video below for all the details.

Did you love the tip in my video about using the Classic Label punch to make the notches at the top of the castle!?  I thought it was so clever and easy if I do say so myself :)

 

Don't forget to sponge the brick wall and add the fun hinges from the Sliding Door (barn door) framelit dies for just those little extra touches that make this project super special.

 

 

Did you catch this tip in the video?  Color around the images in the Myths & Magic designer paper before cutting them out, then they will blend into the castle a little better than the white border. I used my Light Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends marker.

Petal Pair embossed Narrow Note Card - Luv 2 Stamp Group project

 

Enjoy this cute Narrow Note Card idea featuring the Stampin' UP! Petal Pair embossing folder!

We made this cute card project at our recent Luv 2 Stamp Group demonstrator stamping day!

 

 

We embossed the front of the narrow note card with the floral design in the Petal Pair embossing folder duo pack. Then lightly added ink with a sponge dauber... so easy, so pretty!  Yep, the Petal Pair embossing folder is easy to miss... if you missed it, it's on pg 23 in the 2018 Occasions catalog, or HERE online.

 

 

 

We used Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo and Pear Pizzazz ink on the Spong Daubers to add color to the raised embossed area.  You can use any color combo.  I was trying to highlight some of the soon to be retired 2016-2018 In Colors from Stampin' Up!  (see them here).

 

The cute embellishment is created with the "A Good Day" stamp set and the coordinating new Scallop circle punches.. you'll find those products on pg 17 in the 2018 Occasions catalog.  See above and below for instructions on stamping and punching the cardstock layers for the embellishment.

 

To make a really cute liner for your Narrow Note Card envelopes, use a 2-1/2" or 2-1/4" circle punch or die to make a circle and glue it into the flap.. .SO CUTE!

I layered a 4"x5-1/4" piece of Sweet Soiree printed paper in the background onto the Thick Whisper White folded card, and then put a strip of Whisper White cardstock embossed with the Petal Pair embossing folder over that. 

The velvet scalloped ribbon and the printed flower pieces are both from the Sweet Soiree Embellishment kit.

Love & Hugs image is found in the Ribbon of Courage stamp set, and stamped in Marina Mist ink onto Whisper White and punched out with the Everyday Label Punch.

I embossed each Narrow Note Card about 2/3 of the way with the Petal Pair embossing folder, then added different flowers to each one!

ABOVE:  I colored flowers and the butterfly with Stampin' Blends markers and the Just  Add Color designer paper and added them to the notecard.  The Pear Pizzazz leaves are punched from the Fox Builder Punch.

 

BELOW: I added flowers from the Petal Passion stamp set (pg 23, Occasions catalog) with Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends and cut the finished stamp image apart to add to the card below.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

 

BELOW: I stamped the flowers with Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist In Color Markers, and the Perennial Birthday stamp set and added them to the embossed card.

ABOVE: the Life is Beautiful sentiment is from the A Mother's Flair stamp set (pg 46 Occasions catalog), stamped on a "tag" die cut from the Bottles & Bubbles framelit die set (pg 32 Occasions catalog).

Design Tips to Note:

• Use a Stampin' Blends marker to color your Metallic Enamel shapes to coordinate with your project (above).  I used Light Rich Razzleberry and Light Calypso Coral on these cards
• Use the Petal Pair embossing folder (below) on the left side of this card for an added touch of dimension and flowers (it's on pg 23 of the 2018 Occasions catalog and EASY TO MISS!)
• Try out several different ribbons when making cards like these.. I used Peekaboo Peach Seam Binding, Berry Burst metallic edge ribbon, Berry Burst Seam Binding and the FREE Calypso Coral shimmery ribbon (pg 9 in the Sale-a-Bration brochure).   (See all of these products at the bottom of this blog post.. click any photo to shop in my online Stampin' Up! store)

Smitten Mitten Penguins!

 

You probably know, I love penguins!  Our Christmas tree has close to 100 penguin ornaments, we have dozens of stuffed animal penguins that we put out at Christmas, and we wrap lots of our Christmas presents in penguin paper! :)   So I'm sure you can imagine that when I saw Brian King share the idea of penguins created from the Smitten Mitten bundle / Many Mittens framelits dies, I knew I had to create my own!!  This idea was shared at World Card Making day in Oct., and it's been on my to-do list ever since then!

 

The background paper of this card is found in the Christmas Around the World paper pack, and the die cut trees are from the Santa's Sleigh framelits and the Naturally Eclectic paper pack.  I mounted them onto an Island Indigo side fold card.

 

The Mittens are RETIRING!!!

I am so sad that this adorable bundle (Smitten Mittens stamp set and Many Mittens framelits) are on the retiring list this year!  If you don't have them yet, you need them NOW!

You can see the die cut pieces above to create these cute penguins!

• Cut 2 basic black mittens
• Cut 1 whisper white mitten (cut off thumb and trim down sides)
• Cut 1 additional mitten in any color for hat, and emboss with the Cable Knit embossing folder
• trim and embellish as desired
• Use the Fox Builder Punch (shown below) for the feet and nose
• Draw eyes with a Sharpie or use small round stamps

 

 

I had fun embellishing the caps with the Cable Knit embossing folder, and ribbon and tinsel trim!  I also used one of the holly/berry stitched felt embellishments, and cut off the leaves to use the 3 berries as a hat topper :)

 

I also made one penguin into a Christmas Tree ornament, or you could use it as a "to from" tag.

 

 

The penguin is mounted on a Whisper White stitched shape oval and then onto a Lots of Label die cut in Old Olive cardstock, with some patterned paper from the Christmas Around the World designer paper pack.

For the 2 bows (green and red) I die cut them from the Christmas Around the World designer paper and the matching Christmas Lamppost thinlits. 

The Merry Christmas banner is stamped using the images in the Merry Cafe stamp set, Real Red ink, and a new die coming up in the 2018 Occasions catalog.

 

 

See.. I wasn't kidding.. we definitely celebrate a penguin Christmas with our tree and gifts :)

Stampin' UP! Quilted Christmas Squares & Video Product Review

Once you start playing with the Christmas Quilt stamp set and Quilt Builder framelit dies in the Christmas Quilt bundle it becomes really fun and it's amazing what you can create with this bundle and the Quilted Christmas 6x6 paper stack! (see the bottom of this post for links to these supplies!)

 

 

I stamped the stitched outline first in Basic Gray ink, then filled in the "pieces" with Real Red, Pool Party and Lemon Lime Twist ink, on Whisper White cardstock (above).

I die cut them with the outline die in the Quilt Builder framelit (below).

 

 

 

I embossed the 2-3/4" Whisper White square with the Quilt Top embossing folder, layered the die cut quilt pieces on top of it, and then layered them all onto Real Red or Lemon Lime Twist scalloped squares (from the Layering Squares framelits) and then onto 3-1/4" cardstock squares.  I added White Perfect accents to the center of some of the squares.

Smitten Mittens and Snowflake embossing folder card

 

It may not be frosty cold here in California, but we still have occasions to wear mittens in the cool nights. :)   I thought these adorable mittens from Stampin' Up! were so cute and wanted to feature them in a fun card for you today!

 

 

I was originally inspired by a card done by Barbara Strauss Nagle, and put my own twists on it.  I stamped the background with Pool Party ink on Whisper White cardstock using the Marbled background stamp (pg 165 2017 Annual Stampin' Up! catalog), and then embossed it with the Winter Wonder snowflake embossing folder.

Doesn't the marbled background stamp make it look like swirling wind and snow?

The snowflakes are stamped in Pool Party ink, and the greeting (from Hearts Come Home stamp set) is stamped in Island Indigo ink.

 

 

The mittens are die cut using the Many Mittens framelit dies on pg 38 of the 2017 Holiday catalog.  I used stamp images from the Smitten Mittens stamp set - buy these together and SAVE 10% on the bundle!

I finished off the mittens with stamped and die cut images from the Smitten Mittens bundle and the blue Glitter Enamel shapes.   The mittens are "tied together" with silver trim from the Mini Tinsel Trim combo pack.

Love and Hugs Ribbon of Courage note card

 

Sending Love and Hugs to you!!  I love this sweet and thoughtful sentiment in the Ribbon of Courage stamp set!!

 

 

I also love how well the heart theme of this card pairs up with the Sweetheart Embossing folder from Stampin' Up!.  Find it on page 210 of the 2017 -2018 Annual Catalog or HERE online.

When you emboss with this folder, it leaves the heart shape flat (un-embossed) so that you can either stamp there, or add your own embellishment.  I added a stamped heart from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set on a die cut heart from the Sweet & Sassy framelit set.

This sweet, thick Whisper White note card is finished off with a piece of black and white plaid paper from the Merry Little Christmas pack (pg 12 of the 2017 Holiday catalog), and a silver foil doily and die cut flower and leaves from the Support Ribbon framelit set.

The final finishing touch is the 3/8" Metallic-Edge Silver ribbon.

 

 

I die cut a flower and leaves from the Ribbon of Courage bundle (Support Ribbon framelits) and layered them on top of the silver foil doily.  Using Glue Dots to attach the embellishment layers is a quick and simple adhesive solution.

How to use Stampin' Blends markers - Snowman Shading

Stampin' Blends Markers, available November 1, 2017!!

Watch my video below for tips on how to color and shade this cute "Seasonal Chums" snowman!  I created this fun mini Pizza Box for a Luv 2 Stamp Group event and now I'm sharing with you!

 

 

I hope you like this sweet little Mini Pizza Box!!  It is one of the 7 projects I prepared and brought for my Luv 2 Stamp group to create today at our Holiday Catalog stamping day!   I hope they enjoy it!  The snowman is stamped in Memento Black ink on Thick Whisper White cardstock and colored with the new Stampin' Blend markers!  Demonstrators were able to preorder these new markers Oct. 1 - 15, and GREAT NEWS! the markers be available to customers on Nov. 1st!!  Watch the video below for more info about using these great new alcohol markers to shade this cute snowman!

Per my video above, you saw that I die cut the snowman with the matching Seasonal Tags framelit, but only used 1/2 of the stamp and framelit.  I just added the snowman "front" to my Mini Pizza box with Stampin' Dimensionals rather than die cutting the whole thing and making a folding tag.
