2 Broadway Bound Birthday Card Ideas

 

60th birthdays are special!! I loved celebrating my hubby's birthday for a couple of weeks in July!!  Eric's actual birthday was 7-29, and as you can see by the card below, I cut numbers out of the Broadway Bound designer paper to personalize his 60th birthday card!

 

 

I used 2 different patterns from the Broadway Bound specialty designer paper pack for this card, plus the sheet with the numbers.  I mounted it all onto a side fold Lemon Lime Twist card.  The green dots between the numbers are from the Glitter Enamel Dots pack.

Below.. check it out.. I even put 60 inside :)

 

 

You may remember I have already shared a few other cards I made for him.. I wanted to be sure to celebrate with lots of special Stampin' UP! birthday cards, so I made MANY!!  The one below is a gold and black theme, and I used the retired large number framelit dies to die cut the 60.  (seriously, Stampin' UP!... the number dies should NOT have retired) :)  The patterned papers are also from the Broadway Bound specialty paper pack (available here).

 

The card also features Gold Foil paper and a top fold Thick Whisper White card base.  I tied it up with elegant 1/2" Satin Ribbon.  The circle is die cut using the Stitched Shape framelits and gold foil paper.

Wild about You Animal Outing Birthday Card for Eric

 

Hello!! I have another Birthday Card Idea for you today .. this was another card I made for my hubby to celebrate his big day. I used the Stampin' Up! Animal Outing stamp set and the fun Animal Expedition designer paper for this cute "wild about you" card! Because you know... I'm kinda wild about him :)

 

 

I used a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of the designer paper on a folded Lemon Lime Twist card, and used Shaded Spruce and Lemon Lime Twist ink for the tag and greeting, stamped on Whisper White die cut pieces from the Stitched Shape Framelits and the Bunch of Banners framelits.

 

 

"Let's Celebrate You" is found in the Broadway Birthday stamp set.  It's stamped onto a die cut Bunch of Banners piece... the beauty of the photopolymer stamps is that you can bend them to match the shape of a banner like this!

I used some candle stickers from a past Paper Pumpkin kit, but you could easily use the cute gold and silver candle embellishments #146281.

Granny Apple Green Ribbon finished off this fun card!

TIP! don't forget the inside of your card and your envelopes!  I used Shaded Spruce ink and the One for All stamp set to stamp the inside.  Look closely.. I actually used a piece of the Animal Expedition designer paper on the inside of the card! :)

 

So happy we could celebrate all week long, honey!! From California, to Seattle, to Alaska to Victoria BC Canada and back! :)

Rainbow Spectrum Pad birthday card for Eric

 

 HI friends!!  On our recent Stampin' Up! cruise to Alaska, we got to celebrate a very special birthday ALL WEEK LONG!!  My hubby, Eric, turned 60 and we took advantage of each special opportunity, adventure and restaurant as a way to celebrate his milestone!!  I'll be sharing more of his birthday cards over the coming week or so, and today I wanted to share one I made for him featuring the "One for All" and "Around the Corner" stamp sets from Stampin' UP!

 

I had fun inking up a Spectrum rainbow pad from Stampin' UP! with blue and green reinkers (ink refills) and then using it with the lovely bold Happy Birthday stamp from the One for All set as the focal point. I also used it around the edge of the card with the Around the Corner set to pull in all these fun colors!

The colors I used on my rainbow pad:

Lemon Lime Twist, Granny Apple Green, Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and Blueberry Bushel.

 

 

Before inking the uninked Spectrum pad, I like to take my Stampin' Write markers and color a swatch of them to make sure I like the combo (as shown above). 

 

I stamped this bold image onto Glossy paper to ensure really bold bright color and coverage, then added it to the card.

I created 4 side fold cards with the splashy color theme of Basic Black, Lemon Lime Twist and Lovely Lipstick to celebrate 4 upcoming birthdays!  The card base is Thick Whisper White cardstock, perfect for card bases, layered with Lemon Lime Twist or Lovely Lipstick cardstock, then layered with a piece of the Broadway Bound Specialty paper. 

Fun Design Items to Note:

• The hat framelit die cuts the hats in the Designer Paper
• Pearls and Glitter enamel dots are great accents for these cards
• Lemon Lime Twist  and Granny Apple Green ribbons are a perfect coordinating touch
• the "dots" image for Hooray and Wish are super cute when layered on the solid image

This was such a clever design idea from Stampin' UP!! .. providing both the solid image and the dot image for the Wish and Hooray stamps!! Super easy to line up, too, since they are photopolymer!

Low Cal Ice Cream Birthday Treats!

 

Can't get much more low cal than this... fun ice cream cones and bowls full of "Cool Treats" ice cream!  I used the RETIRING Stampin' Up! Cool Treats stamp set and Frozen Treats framelit dies to create these super adorable cards, great for birthday cards or anytime!  Whohooo!!  Frozen Treat Framelits were just discounted - available while supplies last here!

I feel that I get a little more even coverage with the sponge dauber and my Wink of Stella than just brushing on the Wink of Stella on my project.

 

Wasn't that fun?  I love how pretty and sparkly it makes the ice cream!

 

I made both Ice Cream Cone cards and sundae cards!  The bowls were embossed with a retired folder after die cutting, but you can use any embossing folder to add the fun texture!

 

I added a little strip of the Decorative Ribbon Border punch in Whisper White to the bottom of the "flag/banner" on the card.. it lends a little sweetness to the card!

I also added a silver spoon to the bowls of ice cream using the Frozen Treats framelits and Silver Foil paper.

3 SNEAK PEEKS!

1. You may not recognize the card bases.. they are new!  These fun new preprinted Mint Macron card bases are called Delightfully Detailed Note Cards & Envelopes, #146911, available starting June 1, 2018.

2. In some of the cards you'll also see the adorable polka dot tulle ribbon.. that's new too!  #146912, available starting June 1, 2018.

3. I added some Share What You Love pearls to some of the cards.. they are so pretty in Grapefruit Grove, Petal Pink, Rich Razzleberry, So Saffron and Tranquil Tide!  #146927, available starting June 1, 2018.

To add a little fun touch to the "soft serve" ice cream, after die cutting with Very Vanilla Cardstock, I sponged the edges of the ice cream die cut with So Saffron ink then dabbed on Wink of Stella per the video above!

Easiest Birthday Treat Bag EVER!

I made this quick and easy Happy Birthday Bag filled with Stampin' Up! Shreddie and a gift card for our son's birthday in March... it was the perfect, simple and understated design that suits Jason's taste. :)

 

All you have to do is stamp on the white stripes on this beautiful Gold and White Striped bag, stuff with shreddie and a gift or gift card and voila! done!

I used the happy birthday stamp from the We Must Celebrate stamp set, and Memento Black ink.

We Must Celebrate Jason's Birthday!

 

I am excited about how fun this birthday card turned out that I made for our son Jason!

He loves to feed the backyard animals at our house, so I thought this was kind of a perfect stamp image for him and a fun card!!  The stamp set is called We Must Celebrate, and it's found on pg 39 of the 2018 Occasions catalog.

 

Tips for creating this card:

• Stamp the We Must Celebrate image with Memento Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock
• Trim around the top portion of the animals with Paper Snips
• Color the animals and color  in between the animals with the Pool Party Stampin Blends (I used the Dark one)
• Layer onto the cloud design from the Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Paper
• Add die cut grass from the Picnic Basket Builder framelits

I had a vision for this card.. the cute little animals outside in the sun with a sky filled with puffy white clouds and fun green grass beneath their feet... I used the cloud design in the Myths & Magic designer paper pack (pg 37 Occasions catalog, #145600 online) and the Picnic Basket Builder framelits (pg 6 in the Occasions catalog) to die cut Lemon Lime Twist and Old Olive grass (#145658 online).

Party Hat birthday card ideas

Hip Hip Hooray, it's a birthday celebration, with these festive Berry Burst party hat birthday cards! I took my color combo idea from the Tutti Frutti self adhesive sequins for these cards and created a pretty, and bright rainbow of birthday cards!  Each card features a piece of Springtime Foils Sale-a-Bration paper in the background on a card base of folded Thick Whisper White cardstock.

 

You might remember my Chocolate, Vanilla & Strawberry birthday cake cards featuring the Celebrate You stamp set from Stampin' UP! (in this blog post)... those cards were created with the same stamp set.  You'll find Celebrate You in the current 2017-2018 Annual Stampin' Up! catalog on pg 72.

Above: I sponged Bermuda Bay ink on the Springtime Foils paper in the background.. love this fun color combo!

Each card features bright, fun Stampin' Up! colors, and the party hats were each stamped in 2 colors, and I cut out the "pom pom" topper to add to the hat with Stampin' Dimensionals.

 

 

I also used a Stitched Shape Whisper White oval and scalloped oval die cut on each card, either behind the hat, or for the stamped greeting.

 

 

The card above has a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock embossed with the Polka Dots basic embossing folder for a pop of fun!

Some of the cards feature the Berry Burst metallic edge ribbon and Tutti Frutti sequins. 

The card below was sponged with ink on the Springtime Foils paper.. see more info HERE for that technique.

Epic Celebrations birthday card idea

 One thing I hear from my stamping and crafting friends all the time is, "I'm stuck for an idea for a guy card"... so I hope that today's Epic Celebrations birthday card is a helpful idea for you!!  I have stamped the images with Dapper Denim ink onto Whisper White cardstock, die cut with the square Stitched Shape framelit, and "blended" the colors with my Blender Pen.  It's a pretty easy card!!

I cut the square of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock to 3-1/2" square and layered that onto a 3-3/4" square Whisper White square, then put that onto the Sale-a-Bration Tutti Frutti blue card base.

As I mentioned, my color combo was Dapper Denim and Lemon Lime Twist.. it's a great combo!!  I used my Blender Pen to blend the Dapper Denim ink on the stamped images.

 

Enamel Shapes are a great way to give that final touch to your card or craft project!

Chocolate, Vanilla or Strawberry Cake birthday cards

 I recently challenged my Luv 2 Stamp Group team of Stampin' Up! demonstrators to create a project with a stamp set or product they had not used in awhile, so I grabbed the Celebrate You stamp set and created birthday cards featuring the Springtime Foils Sale-a-Bration paper for the background of my Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry cards!  I had not used this set in awhile but I love it! 

 

To create the fun backgrounds I used a Stampin' Sponge and added color to the Springtime Foil paper.  From Left to Right, I used Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight and Flirty Flamingo.  This amazing Springtime Foil paper is a FREE GIFT CHOICE during Sale-a-Bration 2018.. don't miss it! Find the Celebrate You stamp set on page 72 of the 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! annual catalog, and the candles in the Picture Perfect Birthday set, pg 5 of the Occasions catalog.  You'll also find all of these products so you can make your own birthday cards, at the bottom of this blog post. After stamping the cake and the candles, I cut them out with my Paper Snips and added them to my cards. The Mini Stampin' Dimensionals are perfect behind the candles!

 

 

The ribbon on the above "chocolate cake" card is also a free Sale-a-Bration choice.. find it on pg 9 of your Sale-a-Bration brochure: Shimmery Ribbon 3 pack #147243.  I stamped the chocolate cake using Early Espresso ink (ya, it's a dark chocolate cake) :)

 

The vanilla cake was stamped with Daffodil Delight ink, and the ribbon is from one of my past paper pumpkin kits.

The "strawberry cake" card was created using Flirty Flamingo ink for the cake and the card base.  I stamped the candles in Lemon Lime Twist and Bermuda Bay ink to punch up the color a bit, and used Lemon Lime Twist striped ribbon on this card.

Endless Ways to Create Sweet Soiree Cake Cards

I created about 60 of these Sweet Soiree cake customer thank you cards one afternoon and no 2 turned out the same!! I mixed and matched the Stampin' UP! Sweet Soiree specialty designer paper - 2 designs on each card - and switched up the ribbons and the cake embellishments and was so pleased with the fun outcome! They would also be perfect for birthday cards, wedding cards or anniversary cards!

A few Design Notes about these cards:

• the Cake is cut out of one of the sheets of Sweet Soiree designer paper (#145564)
• the circle is die cut from cardstock vellum (#101856) and the stitched shape framelits (#145372)
• the flower embellishments are from the Sweet Soiree Embellishment kit (#145578)
• ribbons used: Berry Burst metallic edge (#145489), Silver Metallic Edge (#144213) and the free Shimmery Sale-a-Bration Calpyso Coral ribbon (#147243)
• card base: thick Whisper White (#140272) cut to 4-1/4" x 9-3/4", scored at 5-1/2"
• Sweet Soiree paper cut at 4"x4-1/4" and 4" x 1-1/2"

 I stamped a panda on Whisper White cardstock with Archival Basic Black ink.  I die cut them with the Stitched Shape framelits, and then layered them onto scalloped ovals and circles die cut using the Bubbles & Fizz Sale-a-Bration paper pack and the layering ovals and layering circles framelits.

All of these supplies can be found at the bottom of this blog post, just click any of the product photos.

 

I cut about 1" off the right side of the front of each Tutti-Frutti note card and put a piece of the Bubbles & Fizz designer paper inside the card for added color and pop!

The die cut circle or oval sticks out beyond the front flap of the card.

 

The balloons are punched out with the Balloon Bouquet punch and the Myths & Magic Glimmer paper found on page 37 of the 2018 Occasions catalog.

 

 I finished off each card by coloring the panda's hat, adding Tutti-Frutti self adhesive sequins, and a birthday greeting from the Perennial Birthday stamp set stamped in black ink.
