Are you looking for a quick hostess gift this Christmas or maybe a gift for a co-worker or neighbor?  Here is a quick and easy idea... apply  Snowflake Decor Elements from Stampin' Up! on a few containers and plates!  Fill with holiday goodies, add a stamped or My Digital Studio tag, and you have a great gift!

Decor elements gift

These are a few of the plates and containers I decorated with the snowflake FLURRY Decor Elements (pg 229 in the Stampin' Up! catalog), item #117153.  You can decorate up to 10 items with this decor elements pack.

I found these special items at the Container Store but you can also look at dollar stores or Big Lots.

I made my special gift for our Luv 2 Stamp Group gift exchange, and Ellen was the recipient.

Here is a brief "how to" for Decor Elements - (you can follow the directions in your package):

STEP 1: burnish the back side of decor elements piece with the Applicator tool

Decor elements plate 1

STEP 2: peel the backing off the Decor Elements piece:

STEP 3:  place Decor Elements piece onto your item and burnish with the Applicator:

STEP 4: for this plate, I used my fingers to apply to the curved portion:

STEP 5: peel the front piece off the Decor Elements design:

Stampin' Loft Redo - "the bridge"

Just a quick shout out... thank you to all my faithful viewers who visit me... today I celebrate 4 years of blogging... I can't believe how fast the time has flown!  But Thanks for your visits and kind comments!

Continuing with some pix of my reorganized stampin' loft area...

My stamping area is in a 2nd floor loft space between the front and the back of our house.  A bridge with a railing overlooking the living room connects the front and the back of the upstairs level and I kept piling "stuff" across the length of the bridge.. finally we bought some white cubes at a big box store and hubby assembled them for me so that I could organize all my "stuff".  :)

more loft photos here

After bridge

I decorated the end with the Long Stemmed Silhouette Decor Elements piece from Stampin' Up!  Click the link to view the entire Decor Elements line in the Definitely Decorative catalog.

I also used the Flower Garden Decor Elements and a Stampin' Up! sticker to decorate some of the boxes:  (click to view larger)

I supposed it will look more impressive if you also see the "before" shot...

Upsy Daisies Decor Elements

I know... call me chicken.. but I have not wanted to apply the Stampin' Up! Decor Elements to our walls... we have a ton of artwork in our home (all painted by my dad), so I've been using Decor Elements on "things", not walls.

Welcome 1

For this 12x16 wall decor piece, I used the UPSY DAISIES DECOR ELEMENTS pieces in So Saffron and Rose Red. I layered the Saffron one over the Red one.

Then I used my STAMPIN' UP BIG SHOT with the SERIF ESSENTIALS ALPHABET DIE (#113464) and the Chocolate Decor Elements Vinyl Sheets (#11437) to cut out the alphabet letters  to spell WELCOME.

  Welcome 2

Rather than putting this onto the wall, I put it on a 12x16 piece of Artist Board.. you can find this at most hobby or craft or art supply stores.  This way I can move it around, take it to Luv 2 Stamp Group meetings, workshops, etc.  It is VERY sturdy, it is NOT canvas on stretcher boards.. it's a nice hard surface PERFECT for decorating with Decor Elements pieces.... now... what pieces should I buy next..

Halloween Crafting ideas from Stampin' Up! convention 2010

I know.. I'm still trying to catch up on sharing the photos from Convention 2010 last summer..

here are some fun Halloween ideas from presenter Brent Steele

First of all, he really impressed us with his HAUNTED HOUSE, featuring the new Design A House kit on pg 37 in the Holiday Mini Catalog (item #120911).

DSCN3355 copy

these are the pieces you get in the kit.. he assembled it with Sticky Strip and then spray painted it with black spray paint.
DSCN3360 copy

Then he demo'd these luminaries using Stampin' Up! designer paper, vellum and the great SPOOKY THINGS DECOR ELEMENTS package (pg 8 Holiday mini catalog, item 120909).

He decorated fake pumpkins with the same SPOOKY THINGS Decor elements and the FABULOUS BLACK FLOURISH Designer Jewels (also pg 8 holiday mini catalog, item 120987).

and lastly.. I thought this was WAY TOO COOL... texturizing die cut leaves with the VINTAGE WALLPAPER Embossing folder (pg 214, item 120175)... isn't that neat!?

Well I'm leavin' on a jetplane...

ScreenHunter_04 Feb. 09 12.58 Yep.. today is the big day.. We are flying to San Juan to join  my Stampin' Up! friends on the fabulous Southern Caribbean Cruise!!!  Thanks to Stampin' Up!, this is our 8th free trip and we LOVE CRUISIN' WITH SU! !!!! :)

Stampin' Up! always spoils us with the cutest travel wallet .. complete with luggage tags, name tags, tickets, itinerary, etc. .... so fun!! Notice the CUTE lining.. it's from our new Island Oasis Designer Paper pack - new in the Summer Mini catalog!!

Here is a fun travel tip for you ...  I used my BIG SHOT, alphabet die and the sheets of VINYL to cut out an S and a C -- SHAMPOO and CONDITIONER -- so that I can tell the difference with my travel bottles!!  I am super duper "blind" without my contacts, and since I don't wear them to bed or in the shower, I can never see my toiletries in the shower.. this will make life grand!!  (view all the colors of vinyl sheets available, HERE).

I am not sure how many times I'll be able to log on to the internet while we are away.. but here is our itinerary if you want to follow along ... I've got blog posts set to post this week.. just in case I can't get on line in the Caribbean.

Best Wishes & More samples from Regional Seminar

I was so excited to get the "Best Wishes & More" stamp set from Stampin' Up! at the Regional seminar on Saturday in Orlando.. I didn't own that set yet but it was on my wish list! They gave it to us free so that we'd have it to stamp our Make & Takes.  I was too busy talking to finish my M&T's.. but if I get them done I'll post them.

Best Wishes & More, #111602, $26.95

Here are a few really cute samples using that set from display boards at the Regional:

And I really loved this WELCOME Decor Elements sign that was on display .. I ordered that Decor Elements piece and need to look for a pretty frame for it!

More sharing tomorrow...

Christmas Decor Elements from Stampin' Up!

YEAH!! I finally did it.. after a few unsuccessful tries with Decor Elements (ah hem!) I did it!  They really are easy once you know how to do it... when these first came out, I was burnishing the design too hard and I did not have any success getting them to peel off the backing sheet...  so the secret is.. a lighter touch.. :)

This is an 11"x14" Shadow Box frame from Aaron Brothers.  It was $16.99.  The Christmasy twigs and potpourri were from the Dollar Store!  Imagine that!

Stampin' Up! Supplies used:

  • Park Avenue Ornaments Decor Elements (med. red) 114823
  • Jingle All the Way Decor Elements (med. red) 114708
  • 1-1/4" Riding Hood Red Striped Grosgrain (113099)
  • Glue Dots - mini - 103683
  • Pop Up Glue Dots - 104183

DE jingle frame

The ornaments are applied to the backing piece of the frame, and the Jingle all the Way is on the glass.  The potpourri and twig decorations are sandwiched in the shadow box.

Thanks to Stampin' Up! for giving us the Ornaments DE last month when we attended the Leadership Summit... that was the spark I needed to try these again! :)

DE jingle close up

Ya, I know.. it would be better if the striped ribbon were real red, ... but... I'm going to live with it. :)

I love all the Decor Elements designs, but didn't really want to put a Christmas one on my wall for a limited time, so I decorated this frame and can put it up from year to year now!
