DIY Halloween Treat Idea featuring Trick or Tweet

Trick or Treat Halloween packaging idea featuring Stampin' UP! Take Out Treat thinlit die cut and Toil & Trouble designer paper. by Patty Bennett www.PattyStamps.com

I'll admit it.. I love candy corn!!  I only have them in October, and not too many.. but I just need that fix in October each year! I made this cute little jar to sit on my desk and will ration out these as treats for the coming few weeks :)   Any other candy corn lovers out there!?  (I know one.. he lives at my house) :)

I filled a cute little jar I bought at the Container Store with the Candy Corn and also filled a Takeout Treats box I created using the Stampin' UP! thnilit set (pg 50 in the 2018 Holiday catalog, #147927 HERE online) and the Toil & Trouble designer paper, pg 49, #147531 HERE online).

DIY Trick or Treat Halloween packaging idea featuring Stampin' UP! Take Out Treat thinlit die cut and Toil & Trouble designer paper. by Patty Bennett www.PattyStamps.com

How to Make the Takeout Treat box:

You can see the steps below.. simply die cut 2 of the take out treat box pieces, overlap them in the center to form a + sign, and secure the 2 pieces together with a strong adhesive like Tear & Tape.

I die cut an opening in one panel and added a piece of window sheet so that you could see the treats inside!!

Fold on all the score lines, add Tear & Tape to the 4 flaps, fold up fill and decorate!

How to Make the Trick or Treat Halloween Take Out Treat thinlit die from Stampin' UP!. by Patty Bennett www.PattyStamps.com

I created tags for each little Halloween Trick or Treat packaging using the Spooky Sweets stamp set, Trick or Tweet stamp set the amazing Black 3/8" Glittered Organdy ribbon and some die cuts.  You can see ALL of the Stampin' UP! products I used at the bottom of this post, and simply click any product photo to shop in my online store!

  2. Spooky Bats punch
  3. Twinkle Builder punch (moon & stars)

Adorable DIY Trick or Tweet Halloween Candy ideas

DIY Halloween Treat idea featuring Stampin' UP! White Gable boxes, Clear Tiny Treat Boxes, and the Trick or Tweet stamp set! I colored the images with Stampin' Blends. By Patty Bennett, www.PattyStamps.com

While I was waiting for my September Paper Pumpkin Halloween Trick or Treat kit, I decided to make other Halloween Treats.  I used the cute Shimmery Lustrous White Gable boxes (4" x 2-1/2" x 2-1/2") and the Clear Tiny Treat boxes (2" x 2" x 2").

And the Survey Says.........

Thanks to everyone who voted in my poll.. I was curious when everyone was making their Halloween Treats this year!  October seemed to be the most popular response!

Halloween Trick or Treat survey from Patty Bennett

I stamped and colored images from the Trick or Tweet stamp set with my Memento Black ink pad and my Stampin' Blends. I stamped them on Stitched Shape Oval die cuts (Whisper White cardstock).  Did you see this cute Trick or Tweet stamp set? It's on pg 50 in the 2018 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog, or HERE in my online store.

I love the shimmery Lustrous White gable boxes.. they are the perfect size for a treat, and allow you a little room for some decorating!! :)   I added some cute Lemon Lime Twist ruffled ribbon so that it wasn't tooooo spooky :)  I wrapped a 2" wide piece of Toil & Trouble printed designer paper around the box before tying the ribbon on.  The Lemon Lime Twist scalloped oval is die cut from the In Color 6x6 Designer paper stack with the Layering Ovals framelits.

Fun Halloween Card Idea featuring Stampin' UP! Farmhouse Christmas tree and fence, paired with the Cauldron framelits and Toil & Trouble designer paper, by Patty Bennett, www.PattyStamps.com

You may not think about the Farmhouse Christmas bundle as something to pull out when making a Halloween card, but I loved the fence and tree, and used them in my Toil & Trouble Halloween card!  I paired them with the Toil & Trouble designer paper and cut out the witch, cauldron and cat with my Cauldron Framelit dies!!  YES! they cut out the images on the Designer paper! yay!!

The Starry night background paper is also found in the Toil & Trouble Designer Paper pack.  I tore a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock for the hills.

Spooky Night cat punch Halloween card ideas featuring Stampin' UP! cat punch, Hearth & Home window framelit, and Spooky night paper by Patty Bennett

I wanted to create the effect of the cat sitting inside the house with the owl looking in from the tree branch.  I used the Hearth & Home window die cut (#139666) in Very Vanilla cardstock, and  cut the square of "tree and moon" paper from the Spooky Night designer paper pack to fit behind the window.  I stamped the owl from the Spooky Cat set in the branch.

I also used a piece of Spooky Night paper to kind of look like wallpaper.

The cat is so easy to punch out using the Cat Punch! Save 10% when you buy the Spooky Cat bundle HERE.

Did you catch this fun tip in my video?  I used the Happy Halloween and Trick or Treat stamps from the Spooky Cat stamp set and stamped right on the striped Spooky Night designer paper, then cut it into strips to use on my projects!

Matchbook Style Cards

I truly hope you enjoyed the Matchbook card style video tutorial yesterday!  I had so much fun making a few extra cards with this design. It's so easy to make and just something a little different!!!   If you missed the video and instructions, click here.

Halloween Night & Jar of Haunts Halloween card - matchbook style goodie treat bag project by Patty Bennett featuring Stampin' Up! products

A few fun finds on this project:

  • did you see how cute the Glitter Silver ribbon looks on this project!?  A fun find for a sparkly addition to a Halloween project!!  3/8" glitter ribbon combo pack, pg 37 Holiday catalog #142015
  • check out the darling tassel!!  I tied it to the Halloween baker's twine.. how fun!! Baker's twine is on pg 51 in the holiday catalog, #142027, mini tassels are on pg 55, #142024
  • metallic foil silver doily... um.. why not?  Halloween can have doilies, right!? :)  Find them on pg 175 in the annual catalog, #138392

This Halloween Trick or Treat goodie bag holder, is the same Matchbook style and it holds a cello bag with treats inside!  Who wouldn't love to receive this little cutie!?  :)

Halloween Night & Jar of Haunts Halloween card - matchbook style goodie treat bag project by Patty Bennett featuring Stampin' Up! products

I used a 4-1/4x11" piece of Tangerine Tango cardstock for the base and scored it at 1-1/2", 6-1/2" and 7", per the VIDEO here.

Stamping:

The Jar is stamped with the Jar of Haunts stamp set (pg 55 holiday catalog, #142247) and the banner is stamped with the Spooky Fun stamp set (pg 52 Holiday catalog, #142236) and the Birthday Banners set (annual catalog, pg 15, #141506).

Paper Goods:

Tangerine Tango card (cut/scored per info above in this post), and Halloween Night DSP, cut to 1"x4" and 3"x4".

Christmas Matchbook project idea:

Presents & Pinecones matchbook style card project by Patty Bennett featuring Stampin' Up! products

Another idea for you ... use the same cutting and scoring dimensions and use a different color scheme, and different paper for a Christmas holiday gifty or card!  I used Emerald Envy cardstock and Presents & Pinecones paper (pg 18, #141986, part of the BUY 3 GET 1 FREE sale going on until 10/31/16!).

I used the layering ovals in Whisper White and Cherry Cobbler for the greeting.

Candy Cane Lane Washi Tape adds a fun accent, as well as the Cherry Cobbler and Emerald Envy 3/8" Silky Taffeta ribbon!

Again, you can see the dimensions and watch the video tutorial here

So now you have 3 ideas using this design..  the Candy Cane Lane ideas shared yesterday, the Halloween idea shared above and the Presents & Pinecones idea here, too! yay!

Home Sweet Home Haunted House

I know I said that THIS CARD might be the cutest Halloween card ever... but... now I'm thinking today's card might be!

I finally used my Home Sweet Home bundle from Stampin' Up! and instead of making a 3-d house, I just die cut the house front to add to my Halloween card!

Home Sweet Home Stampin' Up! Halloween Haunted House card featuring Halloween Night DSP and Halloween Scenes / Spooky fun bundle by Patty Bennett

The Home Sweet Home Bundle can be found on page 40 of the 2016 Holiday catalog and includes the stamp set and thinlit dies.  I used them both on this card, and I also used the fence, tree and pumpkins from the Spooky Fun / Halloween Scenes Bundle on page 52.  Don't forget the money-saving 10% discount when you purchase a bundle! :)

Home Sweet Home Stampin' Up! Halloween Haunted House card featuring Halloween Night DSP and Halloween Scenes / Spooky fun bundle and Wink of Stella glimmer pen accents by Patty Bennett

Did you notice the sparkly tree and window?  I used the Clear Wink of Stella pen on the tree and the gold Wink of Stella pen on the window!  Just adds a fun little touch!

I used the Halloween Night Designer paper as the background for the card, and also as the brick pattern for the front of the house.

Home Sweet Home Stampin' Up! Halloween Haunted House card featuring Halloween Night DSP and Halloween Scenes / Spooky fun bundle by Patty Bennett

I created lots of layers with the die cut fence and pumpkins.. I really wanted this card to be special!

Stampin' Up! colors used:

  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Cajun Craze
  • Cherry Cobbler
  • Basic Gray
  • Basic Black
  • Daffodil Delight

The cute Home Sweet Home bundle was intended to make 3-d houses.. but of course you can use your imagination and create whatever you want!!  Click below to see the Stampin' Up! video with instructions for creating the 3-D Home  Sweet Home houses.
