Detailed Deer Christmas card with Woodland Embossing Folder

 I thought you might like to see a Christmas card idea I took to Orlando to swap with other Stampin' UP! demonstrators at our 2018 OnStage event!!

I used the Stampin' Up! Detailed Deer framelit with Copper Foil paper, the Woodland Embossing folder in the background, Glimmer Paper, shimmer paint, and more!

I love the deer die cut from the copper foil paper... it's really the focal point of the card!

The Woodland Embossing folder from Stampin' UP! creates the perfect background for this card!! The subtle tree trunks in the background were embossed with my Big Shot then I spritzed them with Frost White Shimmer Paint... scroll down a little to see more about that!

The greeting is stamped with Merry Merlot ink from the Merry Christmas to All stamp set on a Stitched Label framelit die cut and decorated with the Frosted & Clear epoxy droplets.

When I make multiple cards, I always cut, embossed, die cut, score and stamp all the layers first, gather all my supplies, then make all the cards.. here are my swap card supplies:

 

 

TIP!  Be sure to use Multipurpose Liquid Glue  when adhering your embossed images to your handmade cards.. it holds the layers together much better than dry adhesives.   I used it also when adhering the glimmer paper "snow" to the embossed image.

To create the Glimmer paper snow, I cut a 3" x 4" pieces of glimmer paper then used my paper snips to cut a wavy line down the middle, and that produced TWO pieces of snowy hills.  :)

 

 

The neighborhood squirrel was watching me from the top of the fence.. I'm sure he thought I'd lost my marbles! :)

Feather & Frost Christmas Wreath Card idea

 

I love square cards because they are a bit unexpected, but so fun!  I created this square card featuring the Stampin' UP! Feather & Frost stamp set and the Layering Squares framelit dies.  I also used a bit of an unexpected Christmas color combo of Poppy Parade and Shaded Spruce!

 

 Directions:

• I started by die cutting the Whisper White Scalloped Square in the Big Shot, then stamping the flower like a clock, at 12 o'clock, 6 o'clock, 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock, then stamping the flower in between, in Poppy Parade ink.
• I masked the flowers and stamped several leaves from the Candy Cane Season stamp set in Shaded Spruce ink.
• I stamped the banner from Birthday Banners in Shaded Spruce, die cut it with the Bunch of Banners framelits, and then stamped the LOVE & JOY in Poppy Parade (it's from the Great Joy set (pg 22 Holiday catalog).
• The sweet bow is stamped with Shaded Spruce ink, and it's from the Candy Cane bundle!
• Final touch, add logs of bling with Gold Metallic pearls!

What do you think of this Stampin' UP! Christmas color combo?  Vibrant and bright Poppy Parade, paired with the elegant and stately Shaded Spruce!?

 The Layering Square framelits are definitely one of the stars of the show here!!   I layered the Whisper White scalloped square onto Shaded Spruce, then another Whisper White square then onto a 4-1/4" square Poppy Parade folded card base.

After I stamped the Poppy Parade Flowers, I used a Blender Pen to just slightly blend the ink without really coloring them in.

Snowfall Snowflake side fold holiday card idea

 Check out this super easy, side fold, fun-fold card perfect for Christmas or the winter holidays!  This card features the Stampin' Up! Limited Time offer Snowfall Thinlit dies and the Snow is Glistening stamp set.

 

(SORRY!  typo!!  correction: score at 5-1/2" and 6-1/2")  :)

 

I made this card while stamping with Cindee and she showed me a really cool way to color these die cut snowflakes!!!  She die cut them from the new white velvet sheets, then we dipped them in little bowls filled with reinker, water and shimmer paint!!  Each snowflake soaked up the color quickly and we even mixed some colors and tried to make some lighter and some darker.. so pretty!

 

Card Base: Coastal Cabana Cardstock - 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2" and 6-1/2"

Mat Layer: Balmy Blue Cardstock - 4" x 4-1/4"

Whisper White Layer - 4" x 3-3/4"

"Tree" image stamped on the 3/4" wide strip of Whisper White in Balmy Blue ink (see image below)

Snowflakes died with Coastal Cabana and Balmy Blue ink, mixed with water and Champage Mist Shimmer Paint.

 

Above: I used the tree image from the Snow is Glistening stamp set and inked it in Balmy Blue ink and stamped it twice onto the 3/4" x 4" strip of Whisper White paper.

DIY Note Pad project for Christmas To-Do List

 I am a "to do list" lover.  I have lists everywhere.  One place I keep a notepad for my lists is my car.  I love these Clear Stamp Case Note Pad Holders in my car because it keeps the list nice and clean and protected from you know.. stuff like spills or the occasional french fry that leaps out of the bag... :)

We made these at our recent Luv 2 Stamp Group stamp day.   I took all of the Stampin' Up! supplies to the event and everyone made one!

Get ALL the Step by Step tips in the free download above!

 

You can read all the step by step tips to make your own note pad holder in the free download above, but basically you will want to create the designer paper insert with Stampin' Up! designer paper (we used Festive Farmhouse paper) and then a strip of Galvanized paper cut to look like a snowy hill.  It measures a total of 7" x 10-5/8" total.

If you slip this into your clear mount stamp case, close the case, and "crease" on the spine, when you pull the paper out, you'll see exactly where to add the trees and sentiment on the front portion.

 

Use the amazing Tear & Tape to adhere a strip of designer paper over the logo on the mini legal pad, and also to adhere the legal pad into the clear stamp case.  (see below).

 

 

These make GREAT gifts, and because you can purchase a pack of 4 of these clear stamp cases for only $6.00 (here), and you can buy the mini legal pads for just a few dollars at places like Sam's club, Staples, etc., they are really economical!  You might even check the dollar store!

 To decorate the front, I stamped the pine tree from Winter Woods in Shaded Spruce ink on Whisper White cardstock and die cut it with the "In the Woods" framelit dies.  I also die cut one of the detailed trees and left it white.

The greeting is also stamped in Shaded Spruce on Whisper White cardstock, and die cut with the stitched shape circle, layered onto a Shaded Spruce scalloped circle.  The stamps is in the Merry Christmas to All stamp set.

Alpine Adventure Christmas Card Idea

 I had this idea in my head to die cut the Alpine Adventures sled with Stampin' Up! Wood Textures paper.. and I really love how these projects turned out!! I created Christmas card designs and a sweet pillow box for a small gift or gift card!

 In addition to making dozens of cards with this bundle, I also used the same basic supplies to decorate a Pillow Box - it's the perfect size for a small gift, some chocolate, some JEWELRY!! :) or a gift card!

TIP!!

Before die cutting the Alpine Sled, add an Adhesive Sheet to the back of the Wood Textures designer paper, then die cut.  That way you can just peel the backing off and adhere it right to your project!!

 

I always like to get all my cutting, embossing, scoring, die cutting and stamping done first, then I assemble my cards.

 

 

I couldn't decide on which embossing folder to use for the background.. my original thought was the Corrugated folder but then I tried the Tin Tile Embossing Folder and loved that too!

 Design Notes:

• The greeting and snowflakes are in the Alpine Adventures stamp set and stamped with Cherry Cobbler and Pool Party ink on a Stitched Shape Oval die cut
• The sprigs are punched with the Sprig punch and Merry Merlot glimmer paper (Joyous Noel Glimmer paper selection #147817) and Pear Pizzazz cardstock that was spritzed with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint
• The gorgeous Cherry Cobbler plaid is found in the Festive Farmhouse designer paper pack and was punched with the Triple Banner Punch
• Final design note: tie a bow with a double strand of Linen Thread and use a Glue Dot to adhere it to the card

Santa's Workshop Christmas Card Ideas

 Cute and Easy Santa's Workshop Christmas Card ideas featuring the Stampin' UP! Buffalo Check background stamp and the Memories & More card pack!!  You'll find these products in the Stampin' Up! 2018 Holiday catalog, pages 21 and 38, or at the bottom of today's blog post.

 

I have 3 adorable Christmas cards to share with you today!!  These cards were created with the Memories & More Card pack, the Buffalo check background stamp, and Real Red cardstock.  They are super easy to create!  For the card above and below, Cindee and I die cut the Santa Bag Memories & More card with the Layering Ovals oval framelit, then added the cute Santa cap to the elf (it's a sticker in the package), layered that onto a Garden Green Scalloped Oval die cut, and then added an addition elf and stamped greeting. The stamp is from the Farmhouse Christmas stamp set and die cut with the Farmhouse Framelits (order them as a bundle at 10% off!).  Find the bundle on pg 13 in the Holiday catalog or below in this post with a link to my online store!

The bow is punched out with the Candy Cane punch and the Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper.

Dimensions for cutting and scoring the Real Red cardstock for the Gate Fold:

For the card above and below, I cut off 1/2 of the front of a standard fold card and so it opens like a dutch door.  The Buffalo Check is stamped in Coastal Cabana ink on all of the cards, onto Whisper White cardstock. 

The Merry Christmas greeting is found in the Festive Farmhouse stamp set, stamped in Real Red.

 

Below: we die cut one of the Memories & More cards with the Stitched Shape Square framelit die in the Big Shot, and layered it onto a Scalloped Square framelit die cut in Real Red.   The greeting is one of the Memories & More cards die cut with the Festive Farmhouse framelit.

Peaceful Poinsettia Handmade Christmas Card Idea

 The Stampin' UP! Peaceful Poinsettia stamp set is perfect for anyone who loves to color!!  This Christmas Card idea (designed by Kurstan) was stamped and colored with the Stampin' Blends Real Red and Call me Clover combo packs.  I made this card while attending Kurstan's Bingo event!

 

Find the Peaceful Poinsettia stamp set (and matching framelits at a 10% discount) on page 22 in the 2018 Stampin' UP! Holiday catalog or HERE in my online Stampin' UP! store.  They are stamped, colored and die cut, then added to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

 Details + Dimensions:

• Card Base: 4-1/4" x 11" Real Red cardstock / top fold
• Mat Layer: Granny Apple Green 4" x 5-1/4" embossed with Tufted Embossing Folder
• Top Layer: Whisper White, die cut on diagonal (twice) with scallop die from the Detailed Leaves framelits, and stamped with Christmas Wishes from the Peaceful Poinsettia set

 

The Tufted embossing folder is on page 223 in the Annual catalog, or HERE online (#146335)

Winter Woods Layered Ink Technique Video Tutorial

I hope you enjoy my Layered Ink Technique video tutorial at the bottom of this post, with info to create these cards featuring the Stampin' UP! Winter Woods stamp set!

 

As you will see in the video below, you'll need your Stamparatus Stamp Positioning Tool, and several markers to enjoy this fun Layered Ink technique! I used the Winter Woods stamp set (clear mount) and Whisper White cardstock with my Stampin' Write markers to create these 2 cards.  The background is the brand new Buffalo Check background stamp - also available starting 9/5/18.

Thanks to Jenny Hall for the Layered ink tutorial.. I adapted it to use with this stamp set, and love it!

Above: After stamping the pine trees, I added several enamel snowflakes from the Santa's Workshop Enamel Shapes package (pg 19 Holiday Catalog #147811), and stamped Merry Christmas in Shaded Spruce ink from the Timeless Tidings stamp set (pg 33 Holiday catalog, #148939 or 148936).  I used a small bit of an Old Olive colored doily (#146935) peeking out under the sentiment and some metallic gold pearls for accents (#146282).

Above & Below: the Buffalo check background is stamped onto Mint Macaron cardstock.. in Mint Macaron ink above, and Shaded Spruce ink below. Find the Buffalo check stamp on pg 38 in the Holiday catalog, #147797 or 147794.

Above: To finish off this card, I die cut some Mint Macaron cardstock "sprigs" from the Frosted Bouquet framelits (sponging a little Shaded Spruce ink on a few ends), and I also added a copper leaf trinket because I liked how it complimented the tree trunks.  The greeting is from the Beautiful Baubles stamp set.

 

I hope you enjoyed these cards today. You could change the greeting and use them most any time of year, and I think they'd make particularly nice "manly cards", too!

Seasonal Wreath Christmas Card with Shimmer Paint

 

Do you have a favorite Embossing Folder in the current Stampin' Up! catalog?  Find them all on pages 222-223 in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog, or HERE online.   I used 2 embossing folders on my Christmas card today: Seasonal Wreath (#146833) and Striped Scallops (#147188).

 

I embossed the wreath on a piece of Stampin' Up! Whisper White cardstock, then used Sponge Daubers to add 3 colors of ink (Lemon Lime Twist, Granny Apple Green, and Call me Clover).  I used my paper snips to cut out the wreath, and then curved it to give it dimension. After cutting it out I sponged Champagne Mist Shimmer paint all over it and added Santa's Workshop red enamel dots!!

This card was inspired by Twila Davis.

 

The card base is Real Red cardstock (11"x4-1/4" folded in 1/2), and the white panel on top is embossed with the Striped Scallops embossing folder. 

Here are a few visuals and tips for you when sponging, creating and assembling this card:

 I stamped the greeting from the Timeless Tidings stamp set (new in the 2018 Holiday catalog, pg 33) onto Whisper White and punched it out with the 1-3/4" circle punch.  I used the Layering circles framelit dies to die cut a piece of Real Red cardstock to put behind the greeting.  Add the greeting to your card, then place the wreath over it.

 

 

The amazingly clear/glossy look of these Santa's Workshop enamel shapes are just gorgeous.. I loved adding them as the "berries" to this wreath!

 

Above: can you see the shimmer on the wreath?  That's the beautiful effect you get when you sponge Champagne Mist shimmer paint onto the wreath with a sponge dauber!!!  Shimmer paint is available in 4 colors starting Sept. 5, 2018 in the new Holiday catalog!

 

I finished off this card with a Red 3/8" cotton ribbon bow.

Holiday Catalog Sneak Peek Christmas Card

 

Holiday Catalog Sneak Peek Christmas Card idea!

 I am so excited to share this fun Christmas card idea with you!!!  I saw the idea on Pinterest to use the Bokeh dots background stamp with the Rainbow pad, and the tree die cut from the "In The Woods" framelit die set (#147919, pg 27 Holiday catalog).  The card idea inspired by demonstrator Katie Drew!  I added a beautiful layer of White Shimmer Paint to the tree die cuts, and the "Merry" die cut from the "Merry Christmas Thinlit dies" (#147912, pg 5 Holiday catalog)  using the new Joyous Noel Glimmer paper (#147817, pg 29 Holiday catalog).

 

 

 

If you have not yet inked a spectrum rainbow pad with Stampin' UP! ink refills, you can watch the video below!

 

 

The Bokeh Dots background stamp was inked with the rainbow pad shown above, stamped onto Whisper White cardstock, then used as the background for the die cut trees.

Tip #1 & #2:

Sponge White Shimmer paint with a sponge dauber onto the Whisper White Die Cut trees

To adhere both layers together, put small dots of glue on the top tree, allowing the little "flaps" to still lift up.

 

Tip #3:

Put the Stampin' UP! Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet onto the back of the Glimmer paper first, then die cut the word Merry.  This will give you a "sticker" to put onto your project and you don't have to mess with glue! :)

Christmas Candy Donations

 

Guess what I did with most of my November Paper Pumpkin Christmas Stockings?

I filled them with holiday candy treats, and packaged them up for a donation!  I donated these to the bowling alley 50-50 raffle this week and I hope that the recipients are going to enjoy them!

I opened up my Paper Pumpkin Kit, got the stockings ready and went shopping for lots of fun candy treats to fill the stockings with!

I assembled the tags that came with the kit, attached them to the stockings and then put 4 stockings in each little "take out box" filled with new Stampin' UP! shreddie.

I wrapped them all up (anyone recognize the polkadot ribbon from MANY years ago? I love that ribbon!) and donated them to the raffle!
