What's your One Must Have Color?

 

What is your one MUST HAVE Stampin' UP! Color?

Of course mine changes from month to month it seems... BUT for the last several months my go-to color has been:

Grapefruit Grove!

What's so strange about that is....

Orange is not my color.. but I LOVE Grapefruit Grove and how it coordinates so well with SO many Stampin' Up! colors!! I have paired it here today with Mint Macaron.

 

 

 

I created this card with the Detailed Floral Thinlit die cut with Whisper White cardstock, then layered it onto a folded Grapefruit Grove card base.  I added stamped flower images from the Abstract Impressions stamp set, stamped in Grapefruit grove, and punched leaves with the Leaf punch and Mint Macaron cardstock after stamping the image with the Painted Harvest set.

Tip: you don't have to own 2 colors of ink pads to use a 2-step stamp image.. simply use one color (Grapefruit Grove used here) and stamp off the largest/solid image onto your grid paper first, then stamp it on your cardstock.  Then stamp the more detailed image full strength with the same color!  This way you get 2 tones of the same color.

 

Tip for die cutting detailed images:

As shown in my video at the bottom of this post, I found this "Big Shot Sandwich" to be the best when die cutting a detailed image like this Detailed Floral thinlit:

then be sure to use your Die Brush to easily pop out all of the little pieces.  This will all make more sense when you watch the video at the bottom of my post.

The Stampin' UP! Varied Vases bundle paired with the thick Whisper White note cards can create a very Clean and Simple card design with just a bit of stamping and some punched vases!

I used the Vase Builder punch and 6x6 In Color paper stack make quick work of the vases!

 

What do you think about these simple, clean cards with white space?  It was hard for me to leave the white space, but I liked them when I was all done! :)

 

Each stem is stamped in Lemon Lime Twist ink, then the flower image is stamped (left to right) with Lovely Lipstick ink, Pineapple Punch ink and Grapefruit Grove ink.  I used the thick Whisper White Note cards.. they are GREAT for these clean and simple cards.

Colorful Varied Vases filled with In Color Flowers

 

Are you ready for a huge pop of color!? Stampin' Up! In Colors to be exact!? I used all 5 new Stampin' Up! 2018-2020 In Colors on these cards featuring the Varied Vases stamp set and the Garden Impressions designer paper!

 I made about 15 or so of these cards, trying out all of the different, gorgeous, floral patterns in the Garden Impressions 6x6 paper stack, and I used all 5 of the new Stampin' UP! In Colors from the 2018-2020 6x6 paper stack, too!  I punched the vases out of the In Color paper stack, and cut 3"x4" pieces of Garden Impressions paper for my cards.

 

The focal point is the largest square from the Stitched Shape Framelits pack in Whisper White, and the scalloped square is from the Layering Square framelits, in various In Colors.  The card base is a thick Whisper White top fold card.

 

 

 I started by stamping the stems in Call me Clover ink, then added the punched vases, and filled in the flower images with Lovely Lipstick and Grapefruit Grove.  It's easy to see right through the images with the photopolymer stamps!

I also punched tulips with the Vase Builder punch and added them with glue dots to the center vase.

Trying out "Rainbow Order" this year

I'm trying something new this year!  Instead of organizing my Stampin' Up! cardstock in the 4 color families and In Colors in separate paper holders, I combined them all into one big rainbow!  I am LOVING my rainbow order cardstock organization so far!!! :)

As you may know, Stampin' Up! is taking the opportunity to revamp our color families in honor of their 30 Year Anniversary!!  Rather than put all my new colors into the new families, I decided to see how I'd like it in rainbow order!

 

My inspiration came from Monica Gale.  Her cardstock is organized in one long horizontal rainbow row, but I don't have room to do that.. so this is how I have mine! 

You can see Monica's rainbow list here.

You will notice that I modified my order a little from hers, because I put the white, vanilla, and neutrals on the left, separate from the rainbow.  I am LOVING this rainbow order so far!!  Do what works for you, and the great news is, you can change it around anytime! :)

Below, you will see a graphic with the retiring Stampin' Up! colors that are going away, as well as the 5 new In Colors and 16 new core colors.  These new colors will be available on June 1st with the new catalog in the new style in pad, or, to demonstrators starting on May 2nd.  If you would like to join my Luv 2 Stamp Group nation-wide team of demonstrators and get your new colors early, click here for more info!

 

Important information about the 5 retiring In Colors listed above and the 13 retiring colors listed at the left:  The ink pads and ink refills (reinkers) are only guaranteed available through May 7, 2018.  The cardstock, ribbon and accessory items for these colors are available only while supplies last.

Stampin' Tip!

 

Design Tips to Note:

• Use a Stampin' Blends marker to color your Metallic Enamel shapes to coordinate with your project (above).  I used Light Rich Razzleberry and Light Calypso Coral on these cards
• Use the Petal Pair embossing folder (below) on the left side of this card for an added touch of dimension and flowers (it's on pg 23 of the 2018 Occasions catalog and EASY TO MISS!)
• Try out several different ribbons when making cards like these.. I used Peekaboo Peach Seam Binding, Berry Burst metallic edge ribbon, Berry Burst Seam Binding and the FREE Calypso Coral shimmery ribbon (pg 9 in the Sale-a-Bration brochure).   (See all of these products at the bottom of this blog post.. click any photo to shop in my online Stampin' Up! store)

It's a Panda Party!

 This adorable "Party Pandas" stamp set is sure to be a "hot seller" this spring at Stampin' Up!

 I stamped the background of these sweet little note cards with the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set and the color combo shown below:  Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum, Lemon Lime Twist and Bermuda Bay.  These cute party horns are just adorable in any color combo, but I thought this was a fun one to try!!

Important Note:  If you don't have Peekaboo Peach or Sweet Sugarplum.. don't delay, these 2 colors are part of the 2016-2018 In Color palette which retires soon!  Don't forget the reinkers, too!

I stamped the Panda bears in Memento Black ink on Whisper White cardstock, and colored them with the Stampin' Blends markers shown above.   I cut them out with my Stampin' UP! paper snips.

 I put several Stampin' Dimensionals on the back of each panda, then put him onto a stitched shape circle Whisper White die cut, and added several Enamel Shape dots to make it look like he was juggling lots of colorful balls in the air!

You Move Me bundle butterfly card

 

The Stampin' UP! You Move Me bundle is quite amazing!!  If you love interactive cards, you will want to watch the video in this blog post (below) to see how you can use the You Move Me stamp set and Move Me thinlit dies to create amazing animated cards!!!

Today I have chosen to use just one stamp and the butterfly die cut image from this bundle for a "non" interactive card.  I combined them with the faith sentiment from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set and a piece of Whole Lot of Lovely designer paper to create a colorful and striking card!

The Whole Lot of Lovely designer series paper package could very possibly by my favorite pack of designer paper in this Stampin' UP! catalog... I'm not sure though.. I have a LOT of favorites :)  And to be honest.. my favorite changes frequently... but for now.. I'm loving this pack!!

 

 

As you can see below, I stamped the solid image from the You Move Me stamp set onto the Whisper White cardstock with Daffodil Delight ink, then just added the black die cut butterfly on top with Glue Dots!

 

 

I finished off this card with some Peekaboo Peach crinkled seam binding ribbon and a stamped sentiment from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set stamped in Calypso Coral ink.  The card layers are Lemon Lime Twist and Calypso Coral.

Glossy Background Daisy Card

 

I recently learned how to make this GORGEOUS Glossy Paper background, created with Stampin' UP! reinkers, Stampin' Spritzer, and a Wink of Stella pen!! Cindee taught me how to make this fun background, and we created 2 similar cards with this technique, both of them featuring the amazing Daisy Delight stamp and Daisy punch!  (save 10% and buy them together in a bundle from Stampin' Up!)

 

 

These are the 2 cards we created with the glossy paper background technique.  The one on the right also features the same technique for the daisy and the Garden Trellis embossing folder on the Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.  The one on the left features a sponged daisy and the Oh My Stars embossing folder on the Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.

 

 

 Both cards are finished off with the beautiful Lemon Lime Twist ombre ribbon, and clear Faceted Gems.

 Sponge Daubers are the key to creating the beautiful blended color on the daisy punch above!

I loved creating these cards with Cindee!! When she blogged these cards, she included a video tutorial. You can watch it here if you'd like to see how she created this background and the daisy. 

 

To create the glossy paper background, you'll need glossy paper, reinkers (ink refills), Stampin' Spritzer or small spray bottle with water, and a Clear Wink of Stella pen.  Read below for the instructions:

 

 

 It's really so easy and you can create these backgrounds in ANY color combo. 

For these cards we used Soft Sky, Lemon Lime Twist and Dapper Denim Stampin' UP! ink refills, the Stampin' Spritzer and Clear Wink of Stella pen.

 

Below: all in one tutorial you can pin or print to save this technique for later!

 

 

After I cut up my piece of glossy background paper, and used part of it on a card, I used the other part to stamp the Daisy Delight image in Memento Black ink, then punched them out with the daisy punch. SO pretty!

 

 

 Be sure to slightly curl the petals of your daisy using your bone folder for a lovely dimensional look!

 

 I wanted the daisy to really stand out on this card, so I layered it onto a Whisper White circle that had been embossed with the Softly Falling embossing folder.. really a fun touch!
