Welcome to our International Memory Keeping with Project Life Design Team Blogshare!

I hope you will visit ALL of my Stampin' Up! Demonstrator friends listed at the bottom of this blog post to see their Project Life page shares today - we are all featuring Project Life kits on the Stampin' UP! retiring list.

I started on my Stampin' UP! Caribbean Cruise 2005 Project Life album, and I elected to feature the Happy Times kit - it's on sale for only $8.00 for 100 cards!! CLICK HERE to see it!  While it's frustrating that I'm so many years behind, it is delightfully fun to go back and remember our fun trips with Stampin' Up!

I often get asked.. what is the best way to GET STARTED with Project Life!?  Well, there is no one correct answer (well actually there is - whatever works for you!) but for me this is how I start:

How I get started with my Stampin' Up! - Memory Keeping with Project Life Happy Times kit by Patty Bennett #PLXSU

I work well with this system... organize my photos, grab my pocket pages, then go through the Project Life cards.   If you want to learn more about this system for starting your Project Life album, CLICK HERE to watch a video I created with Sara Douglass, Stampin' UP! CEO, as she explains 3 easy steps to starting your Project Life album.

Click here for more info on how I organize my Project Life cards for easy access at my Project Life station.

If I am wondering which Project Life Card Collection I want to use, I click on the Project Life card collections in the ONLINE STORE HERE, then I click on a card collection and click the MORE button then the + sign and I scroll through all of the card designs in that pack to give me a feel for whether or not I want to use that kit in my current album.  See the tips below for seeing all the cards in a pack.

Did you know there is a pretty easy way to see a quick view of all the cards in each Project Life Card Collection?  Follow the steps below after going to my Stampin' UP! online store here.

TIP: Above and Below:  Don't be afraid to cut some photos in 1/2.  I learned this tip when I was creating my album with Sara Douglass... sometimes it just works out really well for your page!!

TIP: Above and Below:  Use postcards, professional photos, and trip itinerary memorabilia in your pages to round out telling the story.   Sometimes we just don't have all the photos we need for a layout or album and need to include other items.

TIP: Embellishment tip:  Use Washi Tape and your stapler to attach photos, embellishments or memorabilia to your Project Life cards for added interest and dimension.

Project Life by Stampin' Up! International Blog Hop

PL international blog hop

I was really excited to be asked to be a participant on this Project Life International Blog Hop this month with my amazing Stampin' Up! demonstrator friends from all over the world!  We each have a passion for our Stampin' UP! business and Stampin' Up! products and a love for the Project Life line of products!  You are visiting me here in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, USA, and you will travel the world as you click on all the links at the bottom of this post!

Do you need a GREAT Gift Idea for a New Mom!?

I have your answer!

Our friends Stephanie and Gabe are having TWIN baby girls very soon and I knew I wanted to make up a 6x8 Project Life album for them and have it all ready so that she can just slip in photos of their little babies when they arrive!

Today I am sharing this great gift idea with you! I hope you will think of someone who might be blessed by a gift like this! Watch my video below for more details, and I hope you enjoy this idea!

Project Life Baby Girl album - gift for a new mom to record baby's photos and first 12 months of life. Quick and easy scrapbook gift idea for the new mom by Patty Bennett #plxsu

I did a little stamping on the 6x8 album cover with the Zoo Babies stamp set and regular Classic Ink Pads.

Watch the VIDEO BELOW for more info on my Baby Girl Album Gift:

As mentioned in the video above, this Hello Baby Girl Project Life card collection pack comes with 100 cards, and 12 of them have the months on them, as you'll see in these photos.  It makes such a great quick album to record memories and photos for the baby's first year!

I did offer to make her 2 identical books, in case she wanted a book for each baby, but she said one book for photos of the 2 of them would be great.  We talked about how fun it is to take photos of your little one in the same chair, or with the same toy each month to see their growth, like I did with our son Jason, 25 years ago:

Perfect Pair Pedal Pusher Love Note for Hubby

I thought you might enjoy seeing this fun card idea, pairing the new Pedal Pushers Sale a Bration stamp set from Stampin' Up! with a Project Life card... the Project Life card was already printed with "we're the perfect pair" and I thought this stamp was perfect for it!

I made this card for Eric, my hubby for Valentine's day :)

Stampin' UP! Pedal Pusher Sale a Bration stamp set - bicycle built for 2 perfect pair card by Patty Bennett

The Project Life card is from the Memories in the Making card pack.  You can see it HERE.  Be sure to watch THIS VIDEO to see a great tip for viewing all the cards in a pack!

Patty's Color Combo in this card:

(click on a color... see what happens.. cool, huh?) :)

I created this card for my hubby for Valentine's Day but it would also make a great anniversary card or just an "I love you" card, too!

Stampin' UP! Pedal Pusher Sale a Bration stamp set - bicycle built for 2 perfect pair card by Patty Bennett

After stamping the bicycle built for two onto the Project Life card with Archival Black ink, I colored it in with Stampin' Write markers.  The 2 little hearts were printed on the card, and I wrote our initials with a Project Life journaling pen.

I also cut down the original 4" x 6" size of the card to layer it onto Real Red Cardstock then onto a piece of the cloud metallic specialty paper in the Shine On package (pg 31 Occasions catalog).  THEN I layered it all on to a folded Thick Whisper White card.

You've heard me chat about Project Life by Stampin' Up!, preserving our family memories and my commitment to that in 2016... and today I am sharing my "Why" with you in the VIDEO BELOW!

We all have memories, some of us have preserved them in some sort of album, some of us need to do that.. no matter what stage you are in, I hope you find this 2-day mini-series about organizing your photos and memorabilia and getting going with your own Project Life by Stampin' Up! albums helpful!

WATCH the Video below to learn WHY I'm passionate about getting this done!

Tune in tomorrow for the video and all the details of my Project Life workspace makeover!

Order your fabulous Project Life Card Organizer at Stamp-n-Storage here!

I am so excited that this area is done and that I'm USING it and have completed 1 year of a Project Life album already!!

I'm working "in the past" and catching up with photos from the early 2000's.. I have about 10 -15  years of photos from our married life that need to be preserved, so I just finished up 2001 last week!  The memories are so fun to look back on when Jason was only 10 and in 5th grade!!

I've also got all those photos from the late 1800's to about 1980 from the video above, to be archived and preserved, too!

Several of you have asked me to share some sample pages from my albums.. so I am sharing a few today..

Patty's Project Life by Stampin' Up! pages with tips. Preserve your family photo memories with Project Life. #plxsu

Watch for the tips I am sharing on these pages.. it's fun to mix up your pocket pages and use a 12x12 pocket page for larger memorabilia, or crop your photos and mount them to a 4x6 Project Life card.

Patty's Project Life by Stampin' Up! pages with tips. Preserve your family photo memories with Project Life. #plxsu

I have also found that I take about 1/2 of my photos vertical and half horizontal, so, I need to mix up my pocket pages from the Variety Pack 1 (#135294 - here) in my layouts.

135294 variety pack project life pages pattystamps

It's great to include admission tickets and postcards in your Project Life pages, too!

If you are ready to get going and preserve some memories with Project Life by Stampin' Up!, watch the video I did with Sara Douglass as she shares the 3 easy steps it takes to get going!  WATCH OUR VIDEO here.

MY WHY... I am preserving our memories so that I don't leave my son with boxes and boxes of photos like this from my childhood, my mom and dad's early life, and my ancestors.

Sale a Bration 2016 from Stampin' UP! NEW Pedal Pusher birthday card idea by Patty Bennett. Punch tiny balloons using the Party Punch Pack #140608. click shop online at www.PattyStamps.com

For the fun Pedal Pusher "bicycle built for two" card above, I stamped the bicycle image onto a Project Life card, from the Let's Get Away card kit (#137907). There are lots of cute bicycles in that card kit! See it HERE online.

I decided to turn this in to a fun birthday card by stamping the birthday greeting from Suite Sayings in the label part of the card and then adding punched balloons!!    If you need more info on this card, CLICK HERE to watch the video.

I stamped the bicycle in Basic Black Archival ink and colored it with Stampin' Write Markers.

Below you can see the cute little balloon punch I used - it's in the Party Punch Pack found on pg 4 of the 2016 Occasions catalog.  I drew the balloon strings with my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker.  I cut the bicycle Project Life card down to about 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" and layered it onto a Calypso Coral piece of cardstock cut to 4" x 5-1/4", then onto a standard size Bermuda Bay folded card.

Patty's Project Life Album pages

This is Part 2 of my Project Life post - if you missed ALL THE FUN Sara and I had at Shelli's house creating this Project Life album SEE THIS POST and VIDEO yesterday!

As I mentioned in my blog post yesterday, after we created all the Project Life pages documenting "day 1" of my visit to the Stampin' UP! home office in Riverton, UT, celebrating my Million $$ in sales achievement, we went back to the home office and Dirk took me to the photography studio where he showed me how they shoot all the samples and product photos for the catalogs, publications, blog posts, Pinterest photos, etc!

The Attention to Detail was amazing!  I had asked that they have Pepsi and Diet Pepsi for Eric and Jason, and they had that at every stop along our way!!  So sweet!  And check out the darling personalized hot cocoa cups they had for everyone!

In between our visit to the Distribution Center (above) and the Demo Support Dept (below), we also had lunch with product specialists Darcy and Andrea, we met with Spencer to see sneak peeks from the upcoming catalog (!!!!), we met with the super talented Artist Kathy who will be drawing up my idea for my stamp set, we chatted with all of the Concept Artists, Eric and Jason got a sneak peek of the December Paper Pumpkin kit (see THIS POST), and I got to go stamp a card in the Concept Art Dept (see THIS POST).  We ended day 1 with dinner with the corporate team - fun conversation, great food and a wonderful time!

Did you see Sara's Project Life presentation at the Brussels OnStage event last November? She showed a great tip to get MORE photos into one layout by doing a "pull-up" photo spread.. check this out.. the photos are on Project Life cards that were washi taped together, and they pull up with a tab!!!  I asked her to teach me how to do that, so we did it!

Patty's Million Dollar Memories - Project Life by Stampin' UP! Video with Sara Douglass

I am sooooo excited to share my "Project Life Made Easy" Video with you today!!!!!  brought to you by Patty Bennett & Sara Douglass, crafting in Shelli Gardner's stamp room!!!

When my family and I traveled to the Stampin' UP! home office in Riverton, UT in December to celebrate my million $$ in sales achievement, one of the things I requested was that Sara and I could work on a Project Life album on "day 2" of my visit, using photos taken by the Stampin' Up! photographers on "day 1".  And of course.. they made my dreams come true!!

See how easy it is to document your memories with Project Life by Stampin' Up!, video tutorial by Patty Bennett and Sara Douglass

Seriously.. do you think we might have been having TOO much fun!?  (we did!) :)

This was an AMAZING day (ok the whole TRIP was amazing!) and I will never forget the awesome day spent with Sara (Interim CEO of Stampin' UP!) as we crafted, chatted, laughed, ate, and preserved memories in Shelli Gardner's craft room!  YES.. we were AT SHELLI'S house!! eek!! :)  I had asked Sara if we could do this at her house in her stamp room and she says, "Let's do it at my mom's house!" .... ummm OK!!! :)  Sara was the MOST gracious hostess and since Shelli could not be there, she called in with a FaceTime call!! Watch the video for all the fun we had that day!

Watch the Video below for all the details on our amazing day together and to learn all the basics you need to know to get started preserving your memories with Project Life by Stampin' UP!

(unable to view the video? see it HERE on my Youtube channel)

CLICK HERE for an update (Feb. 2016) on my Project Life crafting space!

Did you catch the 3 basic steps for getting started with your Project Life album in the video?

Here is what Sara advised:

  • Step 1: get your photos printed, sort through them to find your favorites, then put them in order for your album (this might be chronological, or might be by subject, by event, etc.)
  • Step 2:  slip your photos into the pocket pages, leaving some pockets empty for the cards (see step 3)
  • Step 3:  go through the Project Life cards and pick out the cards you want in your album, slip them into the empty pockets in your album.  Journal on some, and embellish on others.  Don't forget to embellish ON your photos as well with the accessories in the accessory pack!

We used a 6"x8" Project Life album, and of course the 6x8 pocket pages.  You also have the choice of a 12x12 album which will hold a lot more photos and cards per page than the 6x8 album.   We used the 6x8 Kraft album (shown below) with the 6x8 variety pack pocket pages, and the Memories in the Making Cards, accessory pack and stamp set, all shown below.  The overlays I refer to in the video are from the FREE Memories in the Making Sale a Bration gift pack (free with your $50 order), found on pg 8 in the Sale a Bration brochure.

The Basic Project Life by Stampin' UP! Supplies that you'll need are:

  • A Project Life 3 ring Album (click here to see them all)
  • Project Life Photo Pocket Pages for your size album (click here to see them all)
  • Project Life Cards and Accessory packs for journaling, decorating and embellishing (click here to see them all)
  • Project Life Journaling Pens for recoring your memories (click here)
  • Additional Project Life cards, accessories and stamp sets (click here to see them all)

So at a minimum, to get started, your list would look something like this... select your album size and order the correct pocket pages to go inside, then get a pack or 2 of Project Life Cards, an accessory pack and the journaling pens!

TUNE IN TOMORROW for photos of all of my Project Life Pages that we created together!

Part of this amazing experience was that after we created this Project Life album, we went back to the Stampin' Up! home office, and Dirk took me to the photography studio and we shot all of the Project Life page layouts that Sara and I created!!  Yes.. professional photos of all the layouts of this book!! They really spoiled me with my trip to the Home Office.. I am working hard to sell my next million so I can go back! :)

Project Life by Stampin' UP! made easy with Sara Douglass and Patty Bennett, documenting memories of my Million Dollar Achievers trip to Stampin' Up!

Thank you:

  • Sara, for being the hostess with the mostest and awesome teacher, crafting partner... :)
  • Merilee, for all of your help that day!
  • Ben, for your mad skills with the video camera!!
  • Jon, for the still shots!
  • Shelli, for letting us use your lovely home!
  • Dirk, for the amazing photos of our page layouts!
  • Concept Art Artists for the beautiful Project Life Album!
  • and to my faithful customers for 20 years of ordering Stampin' Up! supplies!

Patty's Million Dollar Trip to Stampin' UP! - Stampin' Day with Sara Douglass

Million dollars stampin up pattystampsOh my goodness.. what a whirlwind, amazing, fantastic, fabulous 4 days in Utah!!!

We have arrived home from our Million Dollar Celebration and activities at the Stampin' UP! home office in Riverton, UT .. and our hearts and minds are so full of wonderful memories.. it was just the most amazing trip EVER!!

Celebrating Patty Bennett's Million Dollar Sales Achievement at Ruth's Criss with Sara and Sean Douglass
Jason, Eric & Patty Bennett with Sara & Sean Douglass

Stampin' UP! allows the Million Dollar sales achievers to request whatever they'd like to do and I asked to tour several departments at Stampin' UP! as well as have a stamping day with Sara - Interim CEO of Stampin' UP!.  I have watched Sara grow up over my 20 years as a Stampin' UP! demonstrator and we have become friends through the Stampin' Up! incentive trips and Founder's Circle retreats.. she is one amazing person, sweet, kind, funny, adorable and one smart cookie!! (oh and she dresses super cute, too!) :)

So.. I asked to have a stamp day with her at her house..  she quickly suggested that we stamp at her mom's house, even though her mom, Shelli, and her dad Sterling, are away serving a mission trip for their church.  I didn't hesitate one second and said SURE! I'd love to stamp at your mom's house!!

(heart pounding with excitement.. stamping WITH Sara AT Shelli's house.. are you kidding me!?) :) :) :)

Patty and Sara Project Life million dollar trip Stampin UP

I asked if we could create a Project Life album with the photos from the first day of our visit at Stampin' UP!... and of course they made it happen!!!  The amazing photographers at Stampin' UP! took tons of pix on day 1 of our trip to the home office and got them all printed for us... then together, we put them in an album the next morning as shown above!!

While we were crafting... guess who Facetimed us... Shelli!! What a treat to say hi to her and also to Sterling, all the way from Hawaii!! ;)   Thank you Shelli!  It was so fun to have you "there with us" for a few minutes, and thank you for letting us use your amazing home!

2015-12-15 10.58.17

Ben shot a video of us while we crafted, and I'll be sharing that with you after the holidays!!  (sooooo excited!!!!)

Jon was there too, taking photos of us, Merilee grabbed my phone and took photos, so we have a very well documented time together!! (thank you, thank you!)

That afternoon, Dirk (one of the amazing photographers at Stampin' UP!) showed me how they photograph all the catalog samples and we did a photo shoot of all my Project Life album pages... I'll be sharing those with you soon!

I was so excited to see exactly how easy Sara made our Project Life experience as we created our album.. it was so fun!!!  I have been hesitant to start my Project Life journey, and I don't know what I've been waiting for!! I have multiples of all of the boxes of Project Life by Stampin' Up! cards, lots of albums, and tons of (empty!!) pages to fill (and 80 billion photos).. NOW I feel totally prepared to go forth and document our lives!!

Patty bennett project life challenge stampin up

I will be sharing all the pages of our album as well as lots more photos with you over the coming weeks, but just wanted to get this post on my blog and encourage you to GET READY TO DOCUMENT YOUR LIFE with me... so grab your Project Life supplies in the online store, select some photos, and let's do this together in 2016!!

Stampin' UP! offers several different varieties and themes of Project Life cards, albums, and pages to document your photos and memorabilia. (See ALL Stampin' Up! Project Life supplies here).  We used the 6x8 album and pages and the upcoming Memories in the Making cards and Accessory pack (coming Jan. 5, 2016 in the Occasions/Spring catalog).  I've listed a few supplies below that you may want to order soon if you'd like to take my Project Life Challenge in 2016 with me!

Project Life by Stampin' UP! Bookmarks with Fuse Tool

We are home from San Diego...  My hubby and son and I flew to San Diego last week for a week of R&R as well as the brand new Stampin' Up! OnStage events on Friday night and all day Saturday!  I'll have a little photo recap for you in a day or 2 but wanted to share this cute project with you that I took with me to swap with other Demonstrators..

One of the little projects I brought with me to San Diego to the Stampin' UP! OnStage event were these sweet little bookmarks!  I made them with Project Life cards from Stampin' UP! and clear bookmark sleeves (info at the bottom of this post).

Fun DIY Bookmarks featuring Project Life cards and sequins from Stampin' UP!. Fuse with the Project Life Fuse Tool. by Patty Bennett

I used the 2"x3" Project Life cards, trimmed down to 2-1/2" wide for these cute bookmarks.  They are inserted into a plastic bookmark sleeve, loaded up with cute Stampin' UP! sequins, then fused shut with the Project Life fuse tool.  I added all sorts of pretty ribbons and sequin trim at the top.

Supplies needed to make Project Life bookmarks featuring Stampin' Up! PL cards, sequins and trim. Project Life Fuse Tool and bookmark sleeves - link in my blog post.

Stampin' UP! offers a huge variety of Project Life cards, so you'll have endless options for the style of bookmarks you make.. make them for many occasions as party favors, bookmarks for your library books, teacher gifts, co-worker treats, showers or weddings, etc.

Here is a Step by Step tutorial for you so you can make your own Project Life Bookmarks!

Happy Anniversary LOVE card with Project Life

On Sunday, Eric and I celebrated our 29th Wedding Anniversary... wow.. 29 years?  How did THAT happen!!??  He hired me as a Structural Engineering Drafter in April 1984, and we got married on June 28, 1986... yep... 29 years ago!! Amazing!  We worked together in the office until 1991 when Jason was born, then I worked from home when he brought work home for me so I could be at home with Jason.  I started my Stampin' Up! career in 1995, and did both the drafting work and demonstrating until about 1999 when I transitioned to doing Stampin' Up! full time.  I'm so blessed that God gave me such a kind, sweet, caring, loving and hard working man!!  AND of course the best dad to our son Jason!! :)

Eb-pb-29th-anniversary

I made Eric an anniversary card using the

Project Life by Stampin' Up! "Love Story" card collection cards!

Love-story-project-life-stampin-up-card-watercolor-words-heart-pattystamps-anniversary

I trimmed down the 4" x 4" Project Life LOVE card by 1/4" and mounted it onto a 4" x 4" Real Red piece of cardstock, and then on to Whisper White and onto a Basic Gray side-folded card. I just Loved the simple yet striking color contrasts!

I also stamped 3 hearts from the Watercolor Words stamp set and cut them out with my Paper Snips (best little trimming scissors EVER!) and mounted them with Stampin' Dimensionals onto the card.

Love-story-project-life-stampin-up-card-watercolor-words-heart-pattystamps-hearts-watercolor-words

On the inside, I added one more card from the Love Story Project Life card collection box and stamped the 2 hearts over the image.  And because the card needed even MORE LOVE, I stamped more hearts and LOVE inside, too!

Love-story-project-life-stampin-up-card-watercolor-words-heart-pattystamps-supplies

I'll admit that I have ALL of the Stampin' UP! Project Life card collections but have used them more on cards than I have in scrapbooks so far... that needs to change.. I really need to get back on track documenting our years together!
